Nikolas visits on Lulu's birthday

Nikolas can't resist visiting Lulu on her birthday much to Laura's delight and the anger of Luke & Lucky. Later, Stefan warns Nikolas that Laura will use Lulu to get to him. It's more than Nikolas can take and he breaks down in Stefan's arms.

Tyler Christopher lit up the screen when he debuted as Nikolas. He's one of the most genuine actors the show ever had, and it was mesmerizing. When he and Sarah Joy Brown came on the canvas, it revitalized the entire show and raised the performance level of the rest of the cast. Jonathan Jackson really got to show his chops opposite Tyler.

Agree with your comment wholeheartedly. I have been watching GH since 1978 but fell in love with Tyler Christopher and his character, Nikolas since its debut in 1996. I believe TC to be one of the most beautiful men that graced GH. Though I love the super-couple of Luke and Laura, I consider Nikolas and Emily the most memorable couple of GH. Nikolas demonstrated his selfless love from his debut to and during the saga of Emily. After Emily's death, Nikolas was never the same and little by little turned into a dark Cassadine. I hope GH brings back TC and NL.

This was such a great story line. Did you guys know that Genie Francis herself gave the writers the idea of what if she had a child while she was on the island for 2 years and Stefan and Nikolas were created. Luke and Lucky were so immature during this time. They were competing with Nikola for Laura's attention/affection.

Laura needed to slap Luke and ground Lucky until he was able to act like a human being. Nikolas never did anything to them. They weren't better than him. I really hated Lucky back at this time and I always despised Luke. Stefan made a very valid point when he was talking to Nikolas. It seemed to easy for Laura to move on with Luke and forget all that Nikolas ever existed until he was needed to be a donor for his little sister.

And people wonder why Nik is so messed up today. The boy was abandoned by his mother. Luke was incredibly cruel to him. He was raised, isolated and manipulated by the Manson family(aka Cassadines). He had Helena as his only female role model for a long time. Both Stefan & Laura faked their own deaths and the list of f**ked up things goes on. The boy never had a chance as the adults failed young Nik. I don't expect someone under those circumstances to have a solid moral compass. That is why Nikolas always struggled between being the good prince & dark prince. We're seeing Spencer pay the price due to classic generational trauma. 👍

While Luke seemed like an ass during this storyline, he had very good reason. Remember - his wife was kidnapped and her death faked by the Cassadines. She had to make a choice of marrying her kidnapper or die, or maybe be raped. Helena also facilitated this by basically gifting Laura to Stavros. When Laura snuck back to Port Charles, Stavros came after her with a vengeance, and it was not a happy funtime reunion. So, Luke is being extraordinarily overprotective, but with good reason.

In this whole explanation the name Nikolas was never used, because he was innocent. He was a child who was abandoned by his mother and he proved himself over and over. Yet, Luke treated him like he was Stavros, when he did absolutely nothing. Laura chose to keep Nikolas a secret. Stavros chose to be an abusive rapist. None of that involves Nikolas and Luke was an immature bully. This boy so obviously loves his sister and Luke rarely gave Nikolas anything other than scorn. Why? He’s Laura’s son by another man. Nik being a Cassadine was just the easy excuse.

All of Luke's previous experiences with a Cassadine were destructive so he has only negative feelings for them. Nikolas represents the terrible past the Cassadines brought to L&L's life and a threat to their future. He is also very hurt that Laura never told him about having Stavros' child. I think Luke is looking for some way to control the situation so he feels less vulnerable, but he goes too far when he treats Nikolas so hatefully and demands that Laura choose between them. Stefan is a typical Cassadine -- vengeful and manipulative. He loves Laura, but wants to hurt her for leaving him. He is also a hypocrite because he tells Nikolas that Laura will use Lulu to get to him at the same time he is using Nikolas to control Laura. Lucky idolizes Luke and is doing what most kids his age would do -- following dad's lead. I think Laura is allowing herself to be torn apart by all of this mainly because she feels guilty about the pain her lies have caused and is afraid about her yet-to-be-revealed lies. She should lay out the whole truth and then demand that everybody be respectful of each other because it's the only way to keep the family together.

Yes. And just because Nicolas *seems* "innocent" doesn't mean anything... I wouldn't trust him either if I was Luke. It's very similar now(ish) with Peter and nobody trusted him except for Anna because she thought she was his mom, and Laura is the same here... that's her son so she trusts him. But Luke is certainly not wrong to trust a young man who was raised to hate his family by Helena and Stavros. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I started watching GH in 1987 so never saw Luke and Laura during their courtship. This story line was one of the first with Luke and I find him despicable. And there he is teaching his son to be despicable too.

Luke and Lucky, the dynamic narcissist-duo at it again. They have no right to be angry with Laura. Frustrated by the situation, sure. But they should also have made an attempt to understand the situation from the perspectives of Laura and Nikolas. At the very least, they could/should have shown empathy toward Laura as an abused woman and as a mother. But no. They just couldn't help inhaling the stink from their own a**holes, being total jerks. Laura should also have left Luke. There were countless instances when he revealed to Laura (and thus, viewers) the dark void of his soul. This particular story-line was just one of many where Luke presented himself as a toxic, malicious, self-righteous narcissist-rapist. Unfortunately, his toxicity left an indelible imprint on Lucky who wasn't intelligent enough to understand who his father was. Despite Laura's psychological fragility, there were times when she saw right through Luke and recognized her own response to him; her own horrified revulsion. That same fragility however also prevented her from acting in her own best interest in order to save herself and her children -- especially Nikolas -- from the monster whom she voluntarily married.

Lucky is a boy, so he feels more competitive. And also Lucy is older and first, so he feels like Lucky is like his replacement. So with that he feels rivalry, because Lucky had what he felt he should have had. But Lulu is a girl, is a baby and he has a connection to her cuz he saved her life. He's not QUITE as jealous of her, but you see how he bristles when Laura says things like... "when I thought I was gonna lose her..." I think maybe it's because she's a baby and he feels protective of her. But Lucky is grown (ish). The thing with Lucky is that they (Lucky and Nikolas) are both taking up the same space as Laura's "first born." The heir. The #1. With Lulu, that aspect isn't there.
