The camera is brilliant, if you think it looks good then you should get it. Since day one that I have had it i have not been disappointing at all it has blown out the water what I thought it would be able to do. Highly recommended from me!

Nikon should really re-explore this product line again. Imagine having similar features as the pro such as responsive eye and face tracking, IBIS, fully articulating screen, with autofocus adapters for F mounts, and whatever new mounts they are using, and image quality on par with at least dx models having great iso and dynamic range performance. AI features such as artificial bokeh would also be nice. All these feature in such a small package and the ability to use the Nikon 1 lens would be crazy.

The Nikon 1 is the number 1 selling mirrorless for 2012. Fastest focusing, best video camera. In fact I heard that it outsells ALL other mirrorless COMBINED. Not on Amazon, but from Walmart and Target. Right now the J1 w/10-30mm lens is available on digital rev fro $379.

I just bought one, and I received a great deal on it. they are phasing out, so a good time to buy inexpensively. On my way to getting the Nikor lens today. I took so many pics yesterday, even without the greater lens, I took a Squirrel smacking a Crow. Only a good camera can do that! Squirrel moves fast..... I love this camera.

Ken Rockwell (not known to be a Canon raver) has summed it all up on his website: NEW: Canon EOS M: The world's first serious mirrorless camera. Expect close-out sales on the Nikon 1 any day now. The EOS M uses the usual 1.6x Canon sensor and has an adapter to make full use of all our other EOS lenses like the 10-22mm ultrawide, while the Nikon 1 used a very tiny sensor and never had any really wide lenses available for it.

You can only take pictures with the lense. But, I believe there are pretty small lenses available that you can buy for this camera.

Great review Mike, you've really found your niche with quality camera videos with added humour. Gordon Laing does good camera reviews but he's a little dry and formal. Re the Nikon 1 J1: its a wee beauty, i would consider it if it had a hotshoe, as i have a few Nikkor lenses and sometimes dragging a DSLR about is a pain.
