When I bought my D700 about 6 years ago the 28-300 came as a kit lens. I travelled through Europe with only this lens and a 50 1.8. Out of the thousands of shots I took with this lens none were out of focus and the colour and contrast were great. I can't speak highly enough of this lens as a great allrounder. Down side is definitely the weight but with camera and lens in a messenger bag it's quite manageable.

Its a great lens alright, its just the weight and I do like F2.8.

What is the model number of the Tamron? I tried to catch a glimpse but can't get it.

This is an overlooked lens by Photography snobs. but actually this lens is so much sharper than my 24-70 or primes. its actually replaced them. I just get better quality photos from it. its insainly sharp. chromatic aberasion is noticbly less than my "Pro" lenses. I always reach for this lens not just because its easy with the focal range but because it out performs my others. I do beleive there are some bad ones as some people do complain about sharpness and artifacts. maybe I just got lucky.

I agree its a good lens, but its not a scratch on my primes. So unless you have some shocking cheap primes. I don't know how you came to that conclusion.

I’m with you on this. I must have gotten a great copy too. Mine is incredible. If I could only keep one lens, this would be it. Maybe a 20mm prime and call it good.

I use it on my D800 and very sharp Pictures.

Hi, Is it a good idea to ditch my kit lenses - AF-P DX 18-55mm 3.5/5.6 VR and AF-P 70-300mm 4.5/6.3 VR ED - for a: FX AF-S 28-300mm 3.5/5.6 VR (offer for $250 USD)? I have a D3400 a 50mm 1.8G and a DX 35mm 1.8G I like taking photos anywhere and I mainly shoot animal (birds, dogs, etc.)

Have you tried posting the lenses online (Ebay, Mercari, Amazon, etc...)?
@sergiopinzon5003 жыл бұрын
@@DarthPrime10 I got the 28-300mm for $250 USD and kept my kit lenses because they're sharper, now I'll try to trade it for a Tamron 18-400mm or a nikkor 18-300mm and make it my travel lens
@MrMick5602 жыл бұрын
It sounds as if you like the 80-200 lens much more for quality, I had a look and its a cheaper lens second hand than the 28-300, I was trying to understand why better quality ? p.s. nice video.

I own Nikon d3200, 35mm 1,8, 18-55mm and Tamron 18-200mm. I'm not happy with the Tamron. Would you recommend 28-300mm for me for travelling to replace the Tamron. I'm going to rent it for my trip to Milan and Alps.
@jamesaphotography12867 жыл бұрын
The Nikon 28-300 is very heavy and the old Tamron 28-300 won't autofocus on your 3200. My first DSLR was the 3200 and I had the Nikon 55-200 VR with it. I found it very sharp and VR works well, a lot cheaper and lighter than the 28-300. I also used to have the Tamron 18-270 VR which was fine. For half the price of the 28-300 you could get a D7000 and some older lenses that the D7000 will drive, also it has two memory card slots which is handy for travelling as you don't want a memory card failing with all your travel shots on it. If your renting though and don't mind the weight the Nikon 28-300 is brilliant. Hope this helps.

Also what do you think about Nikon 55-300mm VR
@jamesaphotography12867 жыл бұрын
No problem Kate. Ive never used the 55-300 so I'm not sure. I also know that the Nikon 70-300 VR is brilliant.
the 300mm prime is only f4, not much faster, and it is $2000

Lens weight is not a problem if you have a Black rapid strap. been using one for years. could never use stock straps that just pull on my cloths and shit. check black rapid out, the fact I've had it for what.... 10 years??? and its not even showing signs of ware????? I see pro photographers with stock canon and nikon straps and I'm liek how the hell do you cope with that shit.

Depends on the camera I'd say. I can definatly shoot blur free for lots of hand held things on a D750 with the right settings

how the fuck is £550 expensive for a lens? my cheapest lens is my 85mm that cost me £500.
@GothicKittyMadness7 жыл бұрын
i own a D4s and a D750 -_- and exactly my point.... £550 for a used lens is a bargain! Not expensive at all.
@ravusursi8937 жыл бұрын
It's extremely expensive if you only have £400. Cost, value and worth are all subjective. Just give this guy a break and thank him for his contribution to the KZbin community, something from which us aspiring photographers all benefit from. I run this lens on my D800, and given that it's not as expensive as my body, doesn't negate the quality of this piece of glass. When my D850 arrives (whenever that may be), I'll use it on that too! It's far more pragmatic to carry this lens when out and about with family and friends than my 17-55mm f2.8 or my 58mm f1.4 (which is my favourite lens EVER!) The D4S is a nice body, wish my D800 had that FPS! ;0)
