I really wanted this lens, but it wasn’t out when I bought the 85 1.8s. And…I’m not selling portraits so it’s hard to justify spending nearly $3k for a lens to satisfy my hobby.

No doubt, this lens is spectacular, if funds permits. For me, for perspective, I still prefer the focal lenght of my F 104 1.4 more. I do hope Nikon create a new 105mm in the future. Something about the look for head shots between 85 and the 105, I opt for the latter. Had I not owned the F 105, then without question, this new 85 f 1.2 will the one I select, together with its 50 f 1.2 sibling. Subject isolation is spot on, and you could fiddle with adjustments in Lightroom as well. That is where the trade off is. Well done Nikon

Love it... got the 1st piece in Bengal...and never regretted buying it( although all my fellow photographers tried to convince me not to buy this lens at such a high price mark) It's always on my z8... For wedding and fashion it's unreal... never going back to 1.4 or 1.8 😂

Saurav, a specific question to you You used a 70-200 2.8 lens for quite some time and in one of your video, you mentioned that the reason to use this lens at 200mm with 2.8, the DOF and compression makes a big difference. Now comparing a portrait photo at 200 2.8 with 85 1.2, what do you feel about it? Is it a real game changer?

For portraits, I prefer the look of 85 over 200. Way less distortion at 85mm and looks more natural

Star Pictures - dude - we are considering changing ship fro Hass X1D (x2) to Nikon Z8 - we already have the Profoto protocols for Nikon as they are the same as Hasselblad - the trouble is the Hass is a little slow here and there and lens choice is minimal - this Nikon 851.2 might swing it - and no we don't like Fuji -GFX great if you don't like colour - our only concern is that Hass is simples - DSLR's are so stupidly complex to operate without fiddling all the time

Their lenses are so freaking ugly omg. I know the image quality is second to none, but they have absolutely no artistic character and look like tank lenses from WW2 on my Nikon ZF. Hate it. Please Nikon give us some aesthetically pleasing, modern vintage lenses.
