Using both 35mm for cinematography and 85mm for portraits.

This guy is good. He simplified the effect of various focal lenses as it also relate to Full frames and APSC-Crop sensor cameras

for crop cameras or aps-c as they are called multiply by the crop factor for nikon it is 28mm which is normal as 28mm x 1.5 is 42 .... aps-c cameras actually crop optically the image taking the sensor closer compared to ff camera
@shekharkumar9365

most of the video is chutia rant .... 1....just remember if u want to take sharp pics then simple truth is this .... every lens has a minimum focusing distance - like nikon 50mm f1.8 it is 45cm or 1.5ft and for canon stm 50mm f.8 lens it is 35mm or 1.15 ft ... .... If subject is beyond the minimum focusing distance, then we need to adjust the aperture to get a sharp picture - farther the subject smaller the aperture (that is larger f-stop number) should be used to get a sharp picture ... the issue here is that this restricts light and to get correct exposure adjust your ISO .... it is done .... 2....focal length issue is also simple anything less than 42mm is wide and more than 42mm is tele .... it is deviation from 42mm tht matters and this is considered normal or zero level ... so 50mm is more or less normal and it is cheaper to manufacture 50mm lens than a 42 mm lens so it is normally taken as normal focal length but it is 42mm which is normal ok .... now 85mm is tele and 105 is more tele and so on similarly 35mm is wide and so is 28mm 24mm and 20mm and 14mm .... minimum focusing distance increases with increase in focal length and decreases with wider lenses .... 3....pls remember 42mm is the diameter of 35mm film or ff sensor thats why it s normal level .... so you have varying levels of wide and tele lenses depending on their focal length being compared to 42mm fl

A good photographer should have two lens to give his clients a variety of photos during a session unless they are strictly doing head shots.

I personally prefer the 85mm but for a protrait session it helps to have both 85mm and 35mm to tell a story. What is more, sometimes there isn't enough space to use the 85mm.

What's the lowest f stop for both lenses? That would also have an effect? I have a 24-105 so I can shoot both really?
@sauravus

Thank you those are wow leneses mine only goes to f4.. I did a new years eve shoot and those lenses would of been ideal.. But I'm still getting my name out there... Had a good run in December.. But January everything does tend to slow down..
@jamesmlodynia8757
@jamesmlodynia8757 17 күн бұрын
But a 24 - 105 is typically f4 and you may want or have to shoot with a smaller aperture, unless you are shooting in a studio.
@samuelwebster2769

@@jamesmlodynia8757 can't go wider then f4 but when taking group shots in low light it can work.. As you need to get everyone in focus if it's more then 4 people it can get a little out of focus.. Flash and iso does help a lot if all is set right..

With the 35mm, a beautiful frame is always preferable. However, .........if there are too many distractions or I need to fill maximum of the frame with the subject, I’d opt for the 85mm.

One tip for you when you kart next time. Push the steering into corners, don’t pull. So left turn, push up on the right arm. More control and pins you to the seat better.
