Nikon 85mm z mount vs 85mm F mount Which one should you buy?

Like your strategy to build native lenses for Z6 ii and keep the older F lenses for Z50. I am doing same and use old glass on Z50 and D7500, and new Z glass on Z6II

I love my 85 mm 1.8g. Use it with the ftz on my z7ii

I found the bokeh better in the f1.8 z. Less flaring too. Nothing wrong with with using the F lenses until you are in a position to get the Z lenses.

Did you notice any difference in the colour rendition bewteen the two lenses? In other words, if someone is shooting with z-type and F-type lenses, will they need to colour correct the shots to match?

You will see a little difference but not hugely noticeable

Hi Barry. Tempted by the impending 85mm f/1.2 lens? I see you like to shoot wide open....also curious whether you have/use a 105mm or 135mm?

Yeah I think the 1.2 will be a phenomenal lens! I have not tried those focal lengths, I have always loved the 85mm so just stuck with it .

AF for 85 G on a Z6 body is a shit. Very slow and hunt a tiny bit every time. Very hard for eyes AF gets the right focus.

That’s a shame I had no issues with mine and other f mount lenses, the s line lenses are outstanding though 👌

S line is another story, it my be the z6 body which can’t deliver fast processing over Eye AF. For regular subjects it woks quite well, but z lenses are definitely faster.
