Nikon AF-P DX 70-300mm F4.5-6.3G ED VR - Review Part 2 ft. Nikon D5500 / D5600

I just got the Nikon D5600 with two kit lenses, one being 18 - 55 mm kit lens and this lens as well for about $650 USD. Wow!! What a deal!! The camera is a beginner DSLR but is really nice to use and hold and both the lenses actually work very well. I am impressed with the image quality from the 24.2 MP sensor through both these lenses. Not all of us are Pro camera men and so we just need a decent image not necessarily the opportunity to use the one in ten thousand shot facility. Do you really need to have a shutter that does 1/8000 of a second?? Do you really need an F0.95 lens?? A camera set up like this one gives the family man a great camera and great shots. Got this lens in combo with the D3500 and 18-55mm lens for about 500$, and upgraded later to a D7200 with the Sigma 150-600 sports lens but I still love the 70-300 lens, its just so compact and lightweight compared to the sigma lens, and the optical quality is pretty good even throught it is pretty unexpensive

This is a very sharp lens, also lightweight, great feel to the zoom, it can't be beat for the money. I used this lens to get some great shots of hummingbirds near my home.

Got it for my d5300 and loving it very much.. The construction may look similar to the 18-55 kit lens but the optics are really really good. The images are sharp even at 300mm and the sharpness is even better than my yongnuo 50 mm f1. 8 prime. The AF is as fast as the kit lens and the VR allows me to go below 1/125s shutter speed at 300mm which is impressive in its own right. To anyone planning to get this lens, I'd give my green flag to go ahead and get it. The price is just so affordable. Just make sure you get the variant with VR. The little extra is well worth paying for.

When coupled with the d3500 it's a pretty nice lens. I'm shooting honeybees with it. Hummingbirds are next.

WesTurf Videos i dont think that 100$ is worth because d5500 has better reviews. I dont care about bluetooth and if you see on dxomark all lens is better on d5500. I better save money and buy better lens than d5600.

D7200 are newer D7500 lets you use the older lenses. Internal focus motor.

That depends on what focal length are you going to use, if it will be your only lens, then ultazoom lens like 18-300 would be better choice.

I was surprised by beginner questions here. Due to swivel LCD panel and excellent image quality, I always felt this is a more than good enough camera for the experienced, but, indeed, beginners pay attention to this camera so much. Then, I do not see many pros using this camera at all. So my bad. Haha~! This lens is very sharp but not many people know that. You pick that point!!! But it is also sold as a bundle lens often without "VR." People should pay attention to "VR" at the end of lens name. I just wished you mention that in your video, too.

vignette isnt that bad, just remove it afterwards on some editing software,vignetting is easier to fix than sharpness, contrast and overall quality

The plastic mount broke the first day I bought it, drop from car seat to the floor and the lens is inside my padded camera bag attached to dslr. Nice lens, bad quality on the mount, I would pay extra $100 just for the metal mount, shame.

The reason why lens hood is not provided is cost saving, nothing more, nothing less. I unfortunately wasn't able to test whether lens hood is needed, because of the weather where I live. Besides you can get lens hood for this lens for $4.50 here: goo.gl/mWKg3i

you can turn autofocus off and on in the settings menu, just turn it on and it should work fine, if it doesnt, than there is probably something wrong with the lens, but its also possible that you have another version of the lens with a button on the side for autofocus on and off

This lens does not have built in autofocus motor. So it will not autofocus with nikon 5500.its quite difficult to focus in outdoor events. Good for portrait photography like in a studio. But outdoor picture quality is good if you could manage to focus sharply..
