As seems to be the case with all premium compact cameras, the LX100 lens is much brighter than an equally sized lens on the GX9. You’d have to get the 12-35/2.8 on the GX9 to get more in the vicinity of the LX100. I guess that integrating the lens into the body meant that the electronics and focus/aperture motors don’t have to be inside the lens, leaving more room for the lens elements.

I am surprised that there is no mention of the now prevalent green chroma flickering and noise in the shadows. This has become a very real problem for those of us that shoot professional video on a daily basis.

Great review!!! I just got the Action 3 Adventure Combo package. I have had issues with my GoPro’s! The biggest issue, is using it to film my hunts which takes place during cold temperatures. The GoPros can’t stand the cold. I was impressed that the Action 3 can record at temperatures of 4 degrees F without shutting down. So far I have found nothing that I dislike about the Action 3. I like that I can zoom while recording where the GoPro you cannot do that. Appreciate you sharing this.

I can't decide between this and the 35mm. This one is sharper and offers macro functionality meanwhile 35mm is slightly wider and faster focus and larger aperture.

Why is not much difference in how video look with old Sony A7S ii?

Man your reviews messed me up, I was convinced there is no separate stills and video mode. I dont blame you but turns out there is a setting you can toggle to enable separate modes. Panasonic didn't do a good job of clairifying this.

This really looks like a fantastic lens! I recently traded my G9 towards an S5IIX to get better low light performance & shallow depth of field capability. But I have also kept my Olympus EM5.III as MFT is such a handy, portable system to have. Panasonic's 70 - 300 came with the S5IIX kit I chose and whilst it seems like a nice lens, I actually think this 50 - 200 gets better results from the reviews I've seen, including yours. Certainly seems sharper, all the subjects in your samples really seemed to pop with vibrant colours and the background blur is really smooth. So I still think there is room for the 50 - 200 in my kit. I've also found 300mm is a bit short for subjects further away such as small birds. But going above 300mm with full-frame tends to get quite big & heavy, whereas the 50 - 200 is nicely compact. Definitely a win from Panasonic, just a shame it's kind of expensive. The 70 - 300 in my S5IIX kit was ridiculously cheap - an £85 (about $100) premium over the standard S5IIX/20 - 60 kit. Would be lovely if the PL 50 - 200 could be had for that price!

I recently got a Nikon Zf and I'm looking to aquire a second backup body, that's affordable and takes my Z mount lenses. Honestly, I’m leaning towards the Nikon Z5, but with the recent price drops the Z6ii is not much more and is appealing also. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who actually owns a Z6ii (or Z5), LOVES it. I love my Zf, but I want something that will act as a more ergonomic and compact backup, with similar menus. I shoot portraits and headshots and an occasional family session or engagement. No events, sports or wildlife. I don't need speed, and I don’t plan on doing video with this backup. I played with a Z5 and a Z6ii in the camera store recently and they both felt really nimble and great to use. In use, I couldn’t really tell much difference between the Z5 and Z6ii. Both really nice. Would you recommend the Z5 or Z6ii as a backup to my Zf? If I get the Z5 I can afford more glass, but maybe the better body is a wiser choice?
