Despite owning, and loving three Z cameras, lately, I have pulled out my old D200 and D300, and I have really enjoyed shooting on those old DX CCD, CMOS sensors. Unique rendering. I have also been shooting a lot of film SLRs lately. Variety, my friend, is the spice of life! Enjoying what you have is fun too. Does this mean I am not drooling to see the Z8? Hell, no….bring it. However, this old boy wants a Z6iii, to replace my Z6!

@@HR-wd6cw whether or not they would lose a lot of customers is certainly a matter of opinion, however- consider how many they may potentially pick up- Nikon has already established its S-line optics are incomparable when it comes to lack of focus breathing and near perfect optics for video use. I’m just saying (maybe not now) but at some point I could see them creating a dedicated cinema camera.

I’m a lifelong Nikon user, film and digital. I bought the D850 the moment it came out. Whether there’s one or two video/photo variants, I do hope that they are not over £3800, or I will not be buying - It’s just too much. I’ll keep the D850 and buy a LUMIX S1H mk 2 as I believe it will be a better option. I mostly shoot video these days anyway. If they price it right, I may get it, but I guess we’ll see. They need to price it aggressively to make any real impact in the current marketplace (like they did with the Z9).

Maybe a Z6III with Z9 sensor and full 8k video. Z7III goes to 61 megapixels. Both with new bodies built for high heat video shooting. Z5 remains at 24mp and 4k video as the FF entry level camera. Something completely different. The new DX PZ lens. It seems very attractive in different ways. For example as a way to turn my Z 7ii into a video camera. The camera has IBIS as opposed to the DX Z cameras. I would probably add the new grip to the combination and consequently have a great "reportage" video camera. I think. And I would like to see that in operation, the results, the feedback, your feedback, about its usability. Because you are much appreciated :) Considering the extremely low processing load of DX even when in 4K, video and in-camera image processing magic should be possible.

We need: Nikon Z6III with 33mpx sensor and better AF, and 4k 60fps uncropped. Nikon Z5II with better AF and 4k 24fps uncropped. 3rd Party lenses from Sigma, Tamron, Etc. Z8 is great, and everything, but I think there are far more people who needs those 2 mentioned cameras, than Z8...Z8 will be 45mpx 4000$ camera...and that's cool, but 24-33mpx is sweet spot, and better AF will boost Nikon Z sales...expecially if there is more lenses from Sigma, Tamron, etc. :)

Nikon needs to hire a professional for their marketing department. Their marketing is something that needs a lot of help. An 8 in the background what a surprise we can't wait. Ridiculous if you ask me. Nikon is asleep at the wheel and their entire customer base feels that way. I'm not sure thats a good thing. There aren't many surprises with camera technology. We want to know how much $ and the specs thats it. How fast how many fps how many Mb what video specs and has the AF finally caught up or exceeded the competition. The rest is all hype!!!

If this is an indication that the Z8 will be a dedicated video camera, all the D810 & D850 users that had hoped for a replacement, have been waiting in vain? At least for another year, or two. Until the Z7iii is out, anyway. I’m talking about a dedicated and robust body with a high density sensor for landscape, architecture, nature and art photography. Or maybe the flagship Z9 is meant for us enthusiasts, if we can afford it? It looks like the 45,7 mp sensor is here to stay! Everybody seems to agree that the way Nikon have managed to implement their colour science and image quality from these sensors is top notch, -so now it seems like Nikon have decided to land on this sensor as the ‘sweet spot’ solution for all their FF bodies? Well, I guess I will have to continue to use interpolation software to produce my large prints, going forward then. I’m too heavily invested in the Nikon camp to jump ship though. To me it seems that the full potential of the wide Z mount have not yet been utilized to its fullest. Maybe the price-tag for a larger sensor would be too steep for most of us bear? Maybe a Z8 with a larger sensor was just another unrealistic pipe-dream of us D850 users?

I think that if it ends up as a release of a Cinema camera or other video centric tool, there'll be an outcry of disappointment - Nikon knows the number of people anticipating and wanting a Z8 (a gripless Z9) - to string a simple countdown "are you ready" for as long as 13 days and it ending in a total anticlimax as a Cinema camera or a Z50 Mk2 will gain Nikon only negativity which they do not need ......

I think your beard represents Movember when this product SHOULD have been announced. That is also when I sold my Z7II at a $1,000+ loss. How telling is that?! I've been shooting with an A7C (with a few Tamron f2.8 zooms) and am trying out the R8 this week. I was really stretching my hobbyist budget to get the Z7II at $3,000 as it was. Sadly, the Z8 is just more of what I don't need. I'd just like a 33mp BSI no AA D750 (but with a joystick) and articulating screen.

Because I used an A7IV and R7 for a month each, and realized what ML AF-C should be like. You can't leave AF-C tracking on and shoot a mostly still subject. I like this for recomposing. Especially for handheld macro shots. MANY other reasons I've listed on firmware posts in DPR. I liked my Z50 as much as my Z7II, but when I got the Z30, it was that much better than the Z50, but I can't go without an EVF, I tried. The combination of A7C and f2.8 zooms outperforms Nikon for my needs. Yes I'm giving up dynamic range, but I rarely push the limits and use lighting gear when needed. This is the way. ;) I'm not so sure a 30mp stacked Z90/Z500 would do the trick either. ...and Nikon still doesn't make a single FX body with an articulating screen.

All I really want in the "Z8" is at least D850 level performance for wildlife... that's really it. And I think many fellow Nikon Z users (who aren't using the Z9) agree that that's the biggest let-down of the Z gen 2 bodies... I'd give Nikon a pass on the first gen bodies because they were, well, first gen, and something new for Nikon, and they got a lot of stuff right (like IBIS, image quality, etc -- it's just AF was not up to par, and the Z II's were slightly better but still behind the competition -- being the R5/R6/A7 II/IV, etc). Hopefully Nikon has gotten things fi gured out for the Z8 (and I really hop it's not $5000 USD). If it is, I'm not jumping ship, but it makes buying a z9 more justifiable if it's only $500 more than a z8 without a grip. And if that's the case, the only way I would probably still buy a z8 is if it had some features that would never come to the z9, such as AF performance, but I doubt that to be the case, since the two are rumored to have the same processor and sensor which makes me think that any "advancements" the Z8 has, will come to the z9 in some form of a firmware update.

These camera manufacturers need to stop with the video on photo cameras. They need to have two lines of products -- a photo line and a cinema line. Out of all the cameras that I have with video capabilities, only my phone has ever been used for video. A waste of R&D and an added cost that many don't want or need.

Dont like this sneaky approach with the new product announcement by Nikon. Yes, marketing strategy to tease potential customers, and drive up interest and sales. A simple line saying a new product Z8 will be announced on xyz will be welcome for me. As a Z6ii owner, getting sick of Nikon with their support on FW. Maybe after the Z8 launch, we will get a final Z6ii FW update? I abandoned Nikon once but got back due to its Z6ii. Now the Nikon dislike is creeping back.

Ricci, I'm a big fan of you and your YT content, but "teaser"? What The Fotography (WTF), Nikon san?! I mean, this whole influencer circus has become torture. No, I'm not suffering from the uncertainty about a Z 8, just from the much delayed upgrade to the firmware to my Z 7ii. If only it could AF at the lowest EV level promised in the brochure, and not already become indecisive at +4EV (ISO 100). On Nikon's level, it seems to me that the secrecy stems from not relaying information to their biggest competitors and prevention of insider trading their own stock. That's acceptable, but repeating the explanation would take pressure away. I wonder how the to-be-ready date aligns with Nikon's fiscal year, with their astrology, or with Samurai calendars, or even a Japanese form of cabbalistics. Yes, I see the "8" too and again wonder about Japanese forms of cabbalism. And on Nikon's revenue level - what effect did all these rumours, teasers and torture result in? People stalling purchase. My gut feeling is that in recent years Nikon's board has made structural decisions to cut out systemic problems and they have been very successful at that. If only the same intelligence could be applied to new developments and rumours.
