Give me a 28 1.8 in this model range and I’d buy it instantly.

I am glad I saw your video, before buying this filter holder! I was very happy with my V6 150mm. I can’t believe and can’t understand that they eliminated the circular polarizer option 🤯😫 (nor do I understand a landscape photographer saying pol filter is useless 🤔🤔🤔) thanks for the video, unfortunately will have to look for another more complete landscape photographer filter kit 🫤

Irratating when the subject is out of focus when you are talking about it. Why shoot video with such a shallow depth of field?

I just received my Z8 and this will be the first Z lens that I’ll purchase. I’ve been using the 200-500 on my D850 and while I love the results I don’t like the weight or the zoom action of that lens. Additionally I’ve found that for air shows and auto racing I’m not using a focal length greater than 400 that often. The 100-400 seems very nicely balanced on the Z8 too. No clue yet as to what my strategy will be for > 400 mm but I’m leaning towards selling 200-500 and picking up a used 500 pf. The Z 600 pf would be awesome but is a bit out of my budget.

just got z50ii 16-50kit and dx 24mmf1.7. I wish Nikon will make 35mmf1.7 dx. I love native len from Nikon. Viltrox 35f1.7 is good but i prefer native if there is an option.

When I compared this lens to my old 14-24 f2.8 F mount, this new 24-120 f4 is sharper at the corners. You could even use it for astro, only need to time it a little longer. Nikon will indeed loads of this lens for sure. A must have in your bag

That flippy screen enables you to get so many cool shots/angles. I'm not talking about selfies. It's crazy how folks diss the fully articulating screen. It's EXTREMELY useful for pictures.

Why is it that 85mm are worse in AF than 50mm as you said?

This 28mm 2.8 SE is next on my wish list. Lovely lens, and can’t beat the price to quality ratio. Looks like it renders really nice colors as well. Love these SE lenses. My only wish is they had aperture rings, like Fuji does.

Really good points at the end of this video. I’m a portrait shooter specializing in headshots so this Nikkor is my most frequently used lens and I’m glad I got it. Was lucky to get it from a photographer friend who was switching systems and had a barely used one in the box, mint condition with warranty. Got it for a good deal and it’s my favorite lens. Very sharp, lovely bokeh and renders great colors.

I love this lens. The combination of beautiful depth of field and biting sharpness is unreal. It also renders colors beautifully. Just a stellar lens.

Major issue for me is the often invisibility of the focus box in the viewfinder on the 6ii. Too many blurry shots I don't experience on my D780, D750 because the focus box on the 6ii is not thick enough and hard to see in many of the environments my pro shoots take me. Disappointing.

the camera is video oriented. for us photographers does not offer anything new. same sensor less dynamic range, less picture quality for night shots. when the new z6x arrives with something substantial I may consider selling my excellent z6ii and z7ii.

In my opinion there are no valid advantages of using teleconverters. Whenever someone claims othervise its a game of apples and oranges. The loss of 1-2 stops of light is always a disadvantage. Moving objects = you loose shutter speed. Still objects = you loose aperture. Both scenarios means loss of sharpness. Might as well crop instead and get options to reframe in post. If one needs more reach there is no way around getting a bigger lens, unfortunately.

The only bigger issue is the chromatic aberration, otherwise the lens character is great

Hi Ricci. I'm just about to buy my first Nikon full frame camera and thought I'd just get the Z 24-70 mm F4s lens, although I wondered how good it will be compared to those primes. You've proved it for me and I think I'll just stay with the 24-70 lens, as it looks plenty good enough to me. Thanks for that comparison

Thanks for the review! 24:23 I wasn’t expecting that the 600+TC is soooo much better than the native 800PF Prime lens. These are two worlds wrt sharpness and contrast. It’s a pity that you didn’t put in the 800/5.6 lens, too. Based on other reviews that seems to be the very best option for 800mm wrt optical quality … weight is another story 😂

I’m about to buy a Z6II as a backup to my Zf. I think I’m gonna get it as a kit with the 24-70F4. I mainly shoot portraits but I have the 50 and 85 1.8S lenses for that. I also shoot kids and families and I think the 24-70 will be great for that. Also a great studio lens. Most of my work is natural light but I do a fair amount ot studio work as well. Looks very sharp with surprisingly decent bokeh. And it’s small and light, and would be good on my Zf as well. I can’t decide between this or a 35mm 1.4. About same price. What do you think?
