Thanks a lot, i had one of these not working and completely dead for years. i took it apart today as per your instructions and noticed the same problem as you. fixed it with a jumper wire and works great. Thanks a lot for this video

Fantastic. It must be a common design flaw.

A really well produced video, with excellent commentary of the tech. detail / screw sizes etc. I have an earlier version of the same camera (L310), which has an intermittent power problem, so I’m going to try the same strip down.

Thanks much for the detailed information! I've got the same model and that battery door seems like a design flaw. Nine too is broken at the very same spots. Still haven't figured out how to fix it, Cheers!

I have a question about the battery terminals. At some point in that procedure was would there have been an opportunity to repair a battery terminal in the bottom of the battery compartment that was broken while cleaning corrosion? Great video and much appreciated.

8:42 can you still be able to attach the lcd ribbon if the white (small) flip lock top is lost? If so how? I have looked for a replacement with no luck.

Hey, do you remember if this camera has something like a internal battery that keeps the settings memory? I have the same camera and recently, whenever I open the battery cover (e.g. to remove the memory card), all settings are reset and I have to set the date, time, time zone, etc. again.

I just bought Nikon Coolpix L810, from used market, it's in a good condition and working well with batteries, but i want to connect a Dc power cable with an external power bank, or ac adapter. The problem is the socket is not common, can't find a connector for it, so i want to open the camera and replace the socket with a normal pin or mini usb.

I opened mine l820 & tried the same thing but the camera stopped working

I have a L840 Coolpix that I have changed batteries and sd card with new. The camera is hardly used in nice shape but when you turn on within 4-5 seconds a message comes on the screen. Camera will shut down to prevent overheating. Even happens with external power supply. Any suggestions where to look

I didn't quite understand what the problem was, can you please tell me in couple words tell me what you did so it came back to life? Thank you very much in advance

There was a broken connection between the main circuit board and ground. I soldered in a jumper to reconnect the board to ground.

I just bought one of these used for a few bucks the other day. The battery door doesn't shut correctly because those clips are broke off. It works fine but do you have any idea where I could get a replacement part? The door works fine its the clips that the door connects too. Thanks for the video. Hope you have an answer for me.

Sorry, I do not have a solution. It is very frustrating. The battery door is so easily broken but there is no simple way to fix it.

I find the parts and fix them. After you have done it a few times it's not that hard. For my personal cameras, I was using Olympus but I switched to Nikon, I get broken cameras on eBay the same model then I take one apart and put it back together for practice because every camera is different, and then I have spare parts and extra cameras. I like to have sacrificial cameras because they might get destroyed. It's good to have spare parts, I just got a P520 18-megapixel for 18 bucks, I think it might work because I diagnosed the problem before.

I'm not a camera tech. I'm an electronics engineering technician. The newer cameras are easier to work on just like everything else. The goal is to make assembly faster with less labor. Less soldering, fewer failures. It just makes things easier to work on.

The biggest issue I have found with most cameras is folks leave expired cells in so long that the acid leaks out of the cells and will eat thru wires or the battery contacts.

Hello friend, I have a problem with this camera, when I press to take the photo it turns off completely, I turn it on again and everything works fine, but when I press to take the photo it turns off. I hope you have an answer for me
@c.davidgraves48483 жыл бұрын
I do not know "the" answer. Does it die immediately or is there a delay. To trouble shoot, I would consider the possibility that the camera is drawing too much current when the photo button is pushed. I would turn "flash". There could be a short or something in that circuit.

Old codgers refer to a tripod socket, not a “receptacle.” BTW it is the only non metric thread on the camera, being 1/4-20. I believe this is thanks to WW II, after which the camera factories in both Germany and Japan were destroyed and the surviving market was the U.S. Post war American cameras did not have a tripod socket at all, you could not sell such a camera in Japan, even a very inexpensive one, since Japanese dads always appear in family photos by using a tripod and a self timer. I think I was a grown man before I even encountered a metric fastener, so “quarter twenty” became the standard tripod socket.
