Make sure to check the links in the description to buy the Nikon D3300

You are one of the few on internet who have done a video review of 3300 for the user so well. The most important thing is maximum 800 iso. With lenses that have f1.8 the performance of the camera is professional but not with f3.5 and f4 in low light. So you might end up buying costly fast lenses if you save on the camera body for professional work. I have the 18-55 mm kit lens, 35 mm 1.8 Nikkor lens and a 35-70 mm Nikon manual lens for my wedding kit. Now I will be adding f2 Tamron 70-200 lens with stabilisation soon. It is costly and not sharp but better than Nikon 70-300 f4-5.6 lens for weddings. Auto focus for video is not as good as Sony camcorder but if you are prepared you can go round the shortcomings.

Anil P Thank you! You are absolutely right, lenses are really important! I decided to wait and invest in better lenses on my new camera one where the body allows me to expand a little more. But your set up sounds great!

@@SilasWilloughby A while back, my family did a comparison: a D3300 shot I took, vs. a shot my dad took that was converted into digital from a physical negative (or old physical picture - not sure) from his old film Pentax SLR. The difference in image quality projected onto our large-screen TV was night and day. The film SLR converted into a digital file was waaaaaay less pixelated, even with me using the JPEG FINE file size, and the Pentax SLR film converted file being shot at low light. I felt kinda embarrassed using the D3300. How does image quality compare on higher-end DSLRs vs. film SLRs?
@lyndagruen20474 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this review. Trying to figure out the best means of recording video on it, given the camera's limitations. Been using this camera for a few years - mostly for still shots. It's my first DSLR. I generally like it, with a couple caveats: 1) This is not a good camera for video - built-in microphone is not so great and really picks up on autofocus motor noise; video quality could be better - as noted in the review above. You really need a mic mounted on a separate boom. The folks who say to use manual focus are spot-on, and don't expect really great detail in recorded videos. 2) I can't speak for others, but my kit lens would not rotate smoothly from probably Day One. Granted, I can remedy this by using a different lens - or maybe getting my lens inspected / cleaned / repaired. 3) In most cases, I hate shallow depth of field, aka bokeh. Especially with video, I find that I struggle constantly to keep things in focus on this camera. If I had the money for it, I'd go with a dedicated video camera for video and keep this one for still shots. All that said, I mostly shoot still shots, and the camera is pretty good for that. It is because of the affordability and decent still shots that I bought the camera. Oh yeah - and in most cases, my autofocus actually works reasonably well - for still shots. I have many a shot from my travels that I was only able to get safely, thanks to the quick response of this camera's autofocus.

EspeonAndMew well generally that’s an ISO issue. What are your settings?
@EspeonAndMew6 жыл бұрын
Silas Willoughby ISO sensitivity (800) ISO sensitivity auto control (On) maximum sensitivity (1600) Minimum shutter speed (1/80) And un related to this issue, the screen of my camera keeps going black after like 10 seconds, where would the setting to change that be?
@SilasWilloughby6 жыл бұрын
EspeonAndMew Well... I no longer have my Nikon, but I would suggest leaving your iso at 400 max. And then, for your screen timing out there is a setting for that but I can’t remember the name haha.

question ... what video editing software you recommend, and what external mic do you recommend? also any lavalier mics you recommend? i plan on shooting video with this to upload to youtube.
@SilasWilloughby7 жыл бұрын
+Ruben Fernandez If your willing to spend money then Adobe Premier is an excellent editing software, but HitFilm Express is free and is also pretty great. I actually have a video on getting cheap clean audio with the Takstar SGC 598. Its great for only 25$! Lavalier Mics aren't usually that great until you are willing to spend like $100. What is your budget for these things?

Every video I have on my channel was filmed with the D3200, not that different from the D3300, If you can mount it on a tripod it is great, if you have to carry it around with you that is also fine, but the lack of a screen that flips out is a big mistake made by Nikon.

Hello I'd like to use my D7000 to film my sons soccer tournament. what settings i have to do? my main concern is sometime i need to zoom in at times I have 18-200 but then video will out of focus. At outdoors its very difficult to see focus. Any advise?
@SilasWilloughby7 жыл бұрын
Things I Do, I'm actually headed to film a football game tonight, lol. So yes zooming in is important. Generally if you are having trouble focusing then you will need to close down your aperture to something like f16, and when shooting sports you almost always want to shoot at high shutter speed, somewhere around 800. And in terms of ISO this depends of your shots are too dark cuase of the closed aperture and high shutter then you will need to trim it up to properly expose but generally leave it as low as possible. In terms of focus make sure your camera is set to manual and set in ok something that's the distance away that your son will be and then don't touch it unless you notice your shots are out of focus. I have a video exposing how to use most settings on my channel called "aperture, shutter speed, and ISO - how to get the film look" if you need to know more. Any way let me know if this helps. Note: use the view finder as much as possible to set focus instead of your LCD

When you showed the back of the screen on the camera, I noticed you were at about 1/160 shutter speed. Did you use this shutter speed while shooting the video footage? If so, the rule of thumb(for video) is for your shutter speed to be about twice you frame rate, so you should be shooting at 24 frames per second, with your shutter speed at 1/50 of a second.

Good content and concept of way of presentation, but an unprofessional specification of Pros and Cons* of the very entry level reputed DSLR. Just because you don't know to handle it with all ins and cores doesn't mean the camera is waste. Makes sense, ain't it?
@SilasWilloughby7 жыл бұрын
Karthik Vadloori I am slightly confused about what you are saying here.... I am aware that there are a lot more cons and the pros aren't that great when compared with other cameras.... but this is an entry level camera.... this video is geared more to people who will be buying this camera, which is generally people without that much experience or knowledge on dslrs
@karthikvadloori7 жыл бұрын
I mean the way your presenting is underrated. To it's price the value and features are more than great. So try getting a little optimistic towards the standard instead of particularizing just the cons. :)

@SilasWilloughby7 жыл бұрын
The a5000 is about 50$ more expensive... But If you are vloging then yes it does beat the D3300, but the D3300 has more custom functions for people who know how to use them. So yes if i was willing to spend 50 more dollars and was primarily making vlogs then i would definitely buy the A5000, but as a filmmaker i would suggest the D3300.
@426productions7 жыл бұрын
No, I disagree. The a5000 and a5100 has a shit ton more inbody control including the ability to film near flat and the price of the sonys are as low as $200, the video files that come out of a D3300 are extremely crappy.
