You are also missing the point with back button ficus (BBF) It is not just for action. AFC with BBF replaces the need to ever shoot AFS. Simply take your finger off the back button and the camera stops focusing, which is THE SAME as AFS.
@PedroSantos815 жыл бұрын
i kinda knew this but wasn't paying much attention to it until now, that's why some of my football shots come out not so sharp, simply because I let go of the BBF too soon or too quick... well said, mate

Tx for this explanation....I’ve been overwhelmed with all the buttons and how to remember what I am looking for.....I think I’m all set for this morning to go out and look for birds.
I've been shooting birds with AF-S for so long, I've never really understood what it was standing for. This video really helped me out! Now I don't need to refocus so often as I needed to do in AF-S. Thanks!

Great video for those who don’t understand this 👍🏼 I do scratch my ugly head sometimes why use BBF though. I get it, but for action shots in AFC I like shutter AF better. You don’t have to think about two actions, just press the shutter and job done. Would be great though if you could disengage the shutter AF with a button push instead of going into my menu.

Having upgraded from the D3200, this video really helped me to understand all those new features. Great work! Are you aware of the fact that you can actually customize how the buttons work? You can change the behaviour of the camera when pressing in the joystick.
@tectorama7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that Michael. I bought my D500 today and have spent ages scratching my head trying to work this out. (not wishing to look at the manual : ) ) Most of the other buttons I have managed to understand by trial and error. It's a big step up from the D3300.

thank you for this video. My camera was set like this. I think I 'touched something' I shouldn't have because now although it shows group focus mode when I shoot the single point comes into view. Also the auto focus is not focusing. I have tried the default setting but even this will will not reset the camera. It's like the settings have frozen. Not sure what to do next.

Thanks for your help and your videos are great!! Anyone's suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The longer I have the D500, the more I use it, and especially now that I have the 200-500 f/5.6 Nikkor lens and a spare battery for it, I love it all the more. It was super scary to begin with, as I never had nearly this many features on my D3100, but fascination and effort paid off ^_^ Sadly, I'm currently out of action with my D500 because of some sensor dirt. I've been told to order a sensor cleaning swab and sensor fluid from Amazon and swipe it myself. Hope that's a good decision >

+MichaelTheMentor I can tell. And even though I'm a Canon guy, there's still plenty of info here I can still use. I've always had an odd fear of recomposition because I felt my focus would be thrown off and I'd end up having blurry photos after multiple attempts, but now I feel inspired to practice it a little more.

+M. Strain Jr. Deeper depths of field should be ok. The more shallow the DOF, the less likely it'll be in focus where you want it to be
