Hey Tony, I'm moving back to "old-timey tech" with the Nikon after playing with mirrorless for a while. Is there any reason the Sigma/Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 isn't listed? Wayback when I had one of these as my main lens on a Canon 300d(?) and it was great then...

Out of all the 100’s of photography tutorials I have sat through over the past couple of months that has got to be the best and most worthwhile hour and a half I’ve watched. Only just got my D5600 after my D3500 decided to have a swim in the river after owning it for a month. Not only have I learnt about the camera but also learned some photography tips and ended up buying a great book. Thank you so much for the time you put into this video.

B o b b y E l i e / Shadley Joanis true, I spent a long time comparing the two, but the D5600 has a few features the others don't such as the flip out screen, mic port, and both wifi and Bluetooth capability. I probably would be fine with the D5300, but I intend to shoot a lot of video with the D5600 and those features made it more attractive to me.

Gamma, I too just purchased the D5600 last week. I'm having a blast with it. The video from Tony was awesome, as are all their tutorials! You should however download a real user reference manual from the NikonUSA website. It is a large pdf over 20MB. It has EVERY detail covered. I just keep the guide on my dropbox account then I can reference it from my phone anywhere.

Great video. My camera came with Spanish only directions so without you I would have been totally lost. I've had a love of photography since I was 15 and stole my mom's credit card to buy a Pentax 1000. As basic as you get but it forced me to learn a lot about the art that I would have missed otherwise. I'm 63 now and I have a Pentax D20 that is about thirteen years old. My wife and I had a discussion about if I really needed another camera. After all she said, you have a lot of them. I do have a few. My Pentax 1000, Pentax S10, Pentax S1 and a Canon EOS I bought for her and she never used. The D20 is still a nice camera but it's kind of like buying a Honda Civic and never needing another car no matter how old it gets. I'm retired now and my wife says I don't get out enough. I'll never be home now. I love this camera. I still don't know what Fn touch means but I set the Fn button to ISO control so I'm good for now. Thank you so much for the detailed video and I will be buying your book.

Amazon has been infested with camera scams on the used end, so I did not get my D 610, or the D 750, or the D7200 I ordered, all of which cancelled..because of "suspected fraud". That being said, I ordered the D5600 new, (almost ponied up for the 7200, then got wind the 7500 is due out soon, so got the 5600) then settled in to watch your video. I watch a lot of camera reviews, and while there are some very good reviewers out there, you are the best at it, in my opinion. This video is more proof. Hi Tony. GREAT tutorial on the D5600. As soon as one major N.Y. retailer gets more in stock, I'm getting one. Even though I do have a great full-frame - a Nikon D810 - I'm finding with my arthritis, lugging around the D810 WITH my Nikkor 200-500 zoom lens is getting quite fatiguing when out the woods for several hours. Looks like this D5600, even through is Crop Sensor, is basically just as good but with a much smaller weight. Good solution for my photography needs. Thanks again for the great tutorial.

Hi Tony & Chelsea, I want to say a big thank you for the services that you have been offering especially via your youtube channel. I have come to learn a lot from your various tutorials. Been very helpful. However, what I am recommending is for you to set up your system such that you have a link between your camera and an LED Screen, so that whenever you are doing tutorials on controls, rather than we seeing it via the LCD of the device you are using, we can see them on a larger screen and thus we understand faster and better. In that case, we can easily see the setup changes and if photos are taken within those settings, we can easily see them on a large screen and appreciate them better. Thank you both for a job well done. I came into photography not knowing a thing, but now i can safely say i can conveniently use manual mode and a lot of other features.

I use your why to use back button all the time! When people ask about software, lens, etc I tell them how important that is for better pictures. Using it now a Canon R6 and it's magic! I still have to set up dual back button but just coming from the hospital (seriously) I'll have to wait until the brain clears. Thanks for posting that video though, I could NEVER use a dSLR without back button now! One caution, I did have to remember to use it with my wide angle lenses as 'out of focus' wasn't as obvious, but now as you mentioned, it' just second nature!

Appreciate all your videos. Very useful and detailed. Your mention ~18min about apertures (F-numbers) being counter-intuitive to the opening size is quite true. I struggled with it for a bit when I started in photography. They way I remember is how I remember the relationship to wire gauge. Smaller number = larger diameter wire. Same with shotgun gauges (12-gauge is larger diameter than 20-gauge, etc.) Perhaps some folks can use this trick to remember about apertures.

Tks- not new to photography but new to this camera body. Glanced on over to the video and wifi instructions - tks. Btw you might want to mention under option accessories- different camera straps. I love nikon and have been using nikon for over 15 yrs but blackrapid strap is king for comfort.

Thanks for this great video that I could actually understand. I bought the D5600 to document my upcoming RV trip to the Southwest. This is exactly what I needed. I used to have an old Nikon FE3 film camera I used in manual mode, but it has been so long, I had forgotten everything. This is a great video tutorial. Thanks!
