Please someone explain to me why there is no iso on this camera. And if there is where is it?
@riversky334 жыл бұрын
Because plain F2 has no meter. ISO only exists in cameras with a light meter. Without meter, ISO setting is meaningless.
@riversky334 жыл бұрын
That is why you will see ISO setting on F2s with DP-1, DP-2, DP-11, and DP-12.

Aluminum alloy on the regular F2? I could swear it is brass. Just look at the older F2 in black, the underneath is a yellowish brassy color.
@riversky335 жыл бұрын
msbrownbeast You are right - the black version is certainly made of brass. What about the silver version?
@msbrownbeast5 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. Both my F2s are black, and both show a brassy color under the worn out edges and corners. Ditto with my black F.

@@msbrownbeast Mine has one corner metallic, though it seems an original black one :/
@msbrownbeast5 жыл бұрын
Metallic, but what colour? Yellowish brass, or silvery aluminium? I always thought that Nikon F casings were made of brass but the chrome finish was much more durable against wear and tear. compared to the black paint / anodized version.

The regular f2 body is brass for sure I think nothing looks cooler than when the paint starts wearing and the brass starts showing :)
@ronaldsand30002 жыл бұрын
Actually the F2’s used brass not aluminium Also, titanium has many attributes superior to steel such as weight , corrosion resistance and maintaining strength at high temperatures but it is not actually harder than high carbon steels

I've had many mint regular F2's but the Titan has always eluded me due to the price. The F2 is my favorite of all mechanical Nikon slr's.

How do you compare the F2 to the FM2N?
@CertainExposures4 жыл бұрын
Do you have any idea why the F2’s original DE-1 prism without the meter is so expensive? I see the prism alone online for $500. It does not make sense. It must be collectors? Or is it fragile? I am happy with my inexpensive and reliable FMs.
@riversky334 жыл бұрын
I have seen DE-1 titanium version around $500 and normal DE-1 around $150. Still, your observation is right in that DE-1 version is normally more expensive than DP-1 version. My guess is that due to age, lots of DP-1s won’t meter accurately anymore; and people prefer non-metered DE-1 for its simplicity. The more reliable DP-12 is no less expensive than DE-1 though.

@@riversky33 There's also the fact that only about 10% of the almost 1 million F's and F2' came with a plain prism and it was not sold separately as an accessory. You are right that most of the DP-1 and DP-3 finders have inaccurate or dead meters by now. I hear the DP-11 and DP-12's have aged better but I cannot confirm. I have a DE-1 on my F2 as a handheld meter is more accurate than what was originally on the photomic F2's. It also looks much better with the plain prism imo.
