I bought one about 6 months ago to add to my F100, N80, N70 (inoperative) and D750. I paid almost as much for the camera alone as you have it priced for the camera and lens,! The step-less shutter and Matrix Metering make great exposures.

This is the first FE review I've seen that mention the 1/400th shutter speed in A mode, but doesn't mention the exposure lock in the middle of the timer.

Very good video, once more. If you don't mind, I would like to make a comment: the FE's hot shoe is surely better than F3's, but the way you say it "an improvement over F3's hot shoe" sounds like the F3 predated the FE, which is not the case. The FE was released in 1978 and the F3 in 1980. Cheers and thanks, keep up the good work!

Removeable finders made it impossible to mount a hot shoe on the F3 prism ,too.

I had two Nikon FE Cameras, one Nikon FM and two Nikon F3. I like the light meter system in the Nikon FE, but I do not like that the viewfinder not show 100%, I do not like the light meter system in the Nikon F3, but I like that the F3 can show 100% in the viewfinder.

Turn the shutter speed dial to M90, that should release it,

I like the smaller size of the Olympus lenses, but the FE has a larger range of shutter speeds if you like shooting in daylight with faster lenses.

@@japanvintagecamera8869 When shooting in manual it does... but both cameras have aperture priority and therefor unlimited slower shutter speeds. As far as specs the OM2 and the FE are very similar cameras... therefor I would choose the Olympus because it's smaller. Smaller camera, and smaller lenses.

Without a battery the shutter will only work in the M90 (1/90) setting.

They are a great camera,even if you have money to burn , reliable, everything you need nothing g you don't. If you wanna whine about curton sync, you can still get the same effects eith this camera

@@maska013 yes, cannon has odd film adjacent lever issue that appears to be random where the advave lever will let you advance throght the whole roll if you don't hold the rewind knob and keep advancing untill the wind lock decides to catch again.

No way, can the FE expose @ 4000 of a second. It taps out to 1000.

It honestly does. I am not normally a big fan of Ken Rockwell, but he has done a lot of shooting with an FE, and in his review he states "Even though Nikon only specifies the Auto mode to cover the same range, in actuality the Nikon FE's Auto range covers from exposure times longer than an hour to about 1/4,000 of a second!"
