Nikon For Wedding Photography Over Sony, Canon and Fuji

Luna, I understand where you are going with this video. Thanks for the effort. I'm not a hater, nor a troll, and I am a Nikon shooter. I am going to relate a short story from another artistic genre to make a brief point. Suffice it to say that may dancers (both pro and amateur) want a judge to tell them what they can do to improve, and why they didn't place higher. So a system was devised to grade routines beginning with basics (timing, connection, lead-follow, footwork) to more sophisticated issues (pattern variation, pattern difficulty) and lastly, esthetics. Point is, the dancers were then given more valuable feedback instead of "I just liked their dance better". So, it would have taken more time to put such a video together, and you already mentioned you don't like editing, but explaining (and showing examples) of the difference in "color science" of the different brands would have been helpful - to a point. Now, if I'm correct in the next statement (because I haven't owned all brands and cameras), then this is also an issue. Nikon's color science from model to model changes a bit. The D700 was known for it's skin tones - which were certainly different than the warmer look of the competitor at the time, the Canon 5D classic. Many have said the skin tones of the Z9 are better yet - depending on what look you're going for - and the sensor is made by Sony. So with brand to brand variation - and camera to camera within brand variation - it would be tough to give general advice except to say "this is what I find better with Nikon than other brands files" - i.e. how far they can be pushed in post - but you do not edit much. At the beginning of the video, rather than suggest Sony colors 'suck', you could have said which camera you are referencing that comment to, and what you specifically found unappealing. Point is, there is no 'real' information to take away here except your personal taste - for somewhat 'true' colors compared to Canon, Sony, and Fujifilm - which cameras? Last thing on this subject: The lens you use will also determine the colors and quality of light you see in your images (i.e. acutance and resolution). Hope you keep up the videos, just suggesting if your intent is on helping others, perhaps develop a scheme of talking points and examples. Best wishes.

Hi! This is probably the best comment I’ve ever gotten and I appreciate it. I really should make it clear though that all of what i say is only my opinion. Giving facts and examples isn’t really what I do right now. I’m so busy with Weddings. I have 57 weddings in 2020 so I’m always editing or taking pictures and then I take some time to make these really quick videos of me photographing a wedding. I put it together real quick, and just talk about what’s on my mind or what I want to make the topic of the video but always with behind the scenes footage of some thing. Next year I’m not going to be as busy because I promised myself that I would not book as many weddings, so I really want to do more videos like the ones that you’re talking about. Hopefully that can happen and thank you for watching so much.

@@LunaBellaPhotos Yes, I figured as much (that you are very busy as a working photographer (OMG - 57 weddings), and that much was your thoughts at the moment. I did get that - and the only reason I left the comment is I cared enough to watch it all the way through. Again, those were my thoughts at the moment - from having experience with other art forms. Just something to think about. Appreciate the effort, brother. Keep up a healthy workload and some time for yourself!

I'm happy with my Nikon. I don't even shoot with the latest greatest. I shoot weddings with a z6ii.

I’ve shot weddings with the Z6ii and r6 and the A7iv. I think that without being bias I can make a pretty fair judgment about the 3 camera models. I would say that I love Nikon ergonomics and their cameras feel so good. Screen and evf are fantastic but I’m still waiting for the Z6iii.

Amen to the Nikon Colors! I currently shoot a Nikon D780. Before that the D5000. I love them so much that only in the last 5 years have I started to use LR for post-processing. Just makes them even better. But I loved them straight out of the camera,

For me personally Sony in terms of ergonomics sucks. I took twice in my hands Sony A7III and I hated it. I'd love to try Canon but I have invested too much in Nikon system. Besides I really enjoy shooting with Nikon. Fuji? I love Fuji. Especially for Fuji colours and esthetics. But would I switch to Fuji to shoot wedding? No. For professional work I'm switching from Z6II to Z8 or Z9 next year.

Maybe one can get used to Sony cameras. I mean, Im sure one could get used to it right? There’s no way Sony users are out there hating holding their cameras but by far Nikon feels better than anyone of them from the get go. I just really love Nikon colors, the raw files are easier to work with in my opinion and for me the picture quality matters so much. Thanks for watching. What’s your IG, I’d love to follow you.

Hi@@JohnShyloski tell me more yeah. Why am I going to love it more? I really do feel like the z6II does everything I want. I may just buy more of these when they are dirt cheap, years down the link and make a ton of money from them instead of buying the latest gear.

@@LunaBellaPhotos I think if you are happy with the z6ii you should stay with it. I found I was missing focus way too much and missing moments. The expense was very justified in my case. I was never the type of person that would buy the latest and greatest. Shot on a d3s and d810 for years. Added the z6 but would use it along side the d810. Didn’t upgrade to the z6ii as I was holding out for the flagship z9 or possibly switching systems. The z6ii was better but still had issues for me. I tend to work fast outside of a studio setting. Whether it’s music, editorial, or weddings I need fast accurate focusing. I can’t be waiting for the camera to catchup to what I’m seeing. I was missing way too many shots and the z9 totally changed my frustrations with Nikon. I also shoot a lot of video and the auto focus on is great for video. Currently using the z8 and z9 for all my work except for the one off video productions that request or need a legit cinema camera. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing your channel grow, it’s a lot of work to film and show bts of a wedding day, cheers!

@@LunaBellaPhotoshi there just found you’re content on KZbin and loving it. I shoot (low cost) weddings on a very part time basis and have in the past defaulted to on camera bounce flash. I have 3 flash guns, a cheap set of manual triggers and stand ! Do you have a basic starting point with your settings in doors ? I understand it all depends on the ambient in the room etc but just a basic start point. Also where and how did you learn off camera flash ? Any links or advice always welcome Keep up the good content
