Chris seemed like a great and fun guy to hang out with who can teach us old hats some things. Sorry for your loss but what a great dedication. The sun shown bright that day to match his spirit and gave you some amazing shooting conditions for you to capture. That moon rise said it all.

Sorry to hear about Chris Matt, my condolences. The 26mm looks great. I thought about that lens for vlogging use but was worried about a crop. I forgot that this is something Sony does on their lens for their stabilization and active stabilization, not Nikon. Although, if the electronic stabilization is on, you would need to crop some in post to hide that. The video I recently posted on vlogging with the Z8, I used Sony’s 16-35mm f4 and the ETZ21 adapter (got it after watching your review of it) and it showed the Z8 to be quite stable when shooting handheld. It’s great to see someone on the professional side show that it is possible to do that with the Z8, even without an articulating screen, when you have the autofocus setup correctly. Most of my lens are f4 as they are lighter then their f2.8 versions, now this has me thinking of picking up that 26mm.

What an evening, very nice! Is this heavy on the vignetting, am I crazy, or is that a creative choice in editing? Can you maybe give this a spin on a Z6II so we can see it on that? RIP to your friend. 📷

Hello Matt, Not sure about the Z8 I have not seen one yet... But I have. just take in my last but one F mount camera and 5 of my F mount lenses swell as an Z7ii just to get the Z8 on order. I will see how long that takes? But I do love the 85mm f1.2 on my Z9 just amazing bits of kit. Love your image from down under.... Keep well, keep safe and thanks for been so nice.

Great video, Matt. I was thinking whether to buy this lens or not for my black Zfc and now I'm leaning towards getting it. The images are gorgeous, and I just love the small size. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. Do you think the build quality justifies the price? Will it last?
@MattIrwinPhotography

Cheers Geek, I think it is very well made, and the only thing to keep an eye on is the part of the lens that extrudes ever so slightly when close focusing.

Hi Matt. First, so sorry for the loss. Second I never thought how good lens is the 85mm F/1.2 for landscape, I have seen your photos in this video and i am impressed. Can you give us more videos for landscape, seascape, or cityscape and 85mm F/1.2. Third, I've seen you use it the peak design clips. Is reliable? Is good for lenses? maybe this is not a good position for the lens when walking and shaking, maybe creating a problem inside the lens. I don't know, I'm asking because i am interested in this product. Thanks for the video!

You can shoot 8k 10bit raw to a UHS-II card? Which did you use? 🤔
@waynerm002
@waynerm002 Жыл бұрын
Did I miss something? I didn’t see any information about the video recorded in RAW format. He listed 10 bit H.265, not RAW. The Z8 quality out of camera is great, for most use cases, you don’t have to shoot RAW and can get great results.
@MB-dq2gz

@@waynerm002 I haven't had time to play with my Z8 much, but I thought anything about 8bit was raw.
@waynerm002
@waynerm002 Жыл бұрын
@@MB-dq2gz I understand. With the older Z cameras lacking 10 bit, it may have seemed like a much higher level codec but, it’s not. There are many levels to the codecs, 4:2:2 10 bit can be done in H.265 all the way up to 8K30 UHD, on the ProRes (non-RAW) side you can do up to 4K60 10 bit 4:2:2 HQ. For RAW you are in the 12 bit region up to 8.3K for N-RAW, ProRes 12bit RAW goes up to 4K60. The 10 bit looks great from the Z8, give it a try. Check out the reference guide as well, it has a lot of useful info on the camera.

@@MB-dq2gz Now that you mention it, I did see an email about that but deleted it. I was perusing the Z9 manual and the Z8 Reference Guide, when NikonRumors posted the link. Still testing out the camera, posted a couple of videos on what I’ve done so far and have some more in the works.

Condolences on the loss of your buddy, Matt…. two thoughts….One, I have the 26mm pancake….I love it. On my Z6/7 its a super light walkabout wide prime. On my Zfc its my “normal” lens….so fun. Very glad I bought it. Second, is it not supposed to be winter in Australia? My early December equivalent winter in Ottawa 🇨🇦 usually already includes a metre or more of snow! I saw dudes running in shorts! That is not winter, brother!

Take a course in movie photography. They will teach a movie camera allows the subject to move, not zoom fast and reverse or pan one way and then reverse like you can not make up your mind. Whole thing makes me dizzy. Yes I love my 26 mm.

Matt, do us a favour. Go back to your video editing software that you used to generate this video. Now look at the audio track and the volume levelling in it. There's music blasting and more softly spoken human voices. For this Pete's sake, please turn that around. You are not soft spoken metaphorically and I do not want to annoy my neighbours with music at a basting volume caused by my setting the volume for your softer voice recordings. I live in a detached house, by the way. It's all over the KZbin place and annoying as F (not fotography). Seems you are grown up enough to handle this feedback and I know you can lead the way in this respect. Someone needs to start with it. Really.

@@MattIrwinPhotography - and thank you too. My simple rule of thumb is, if I need to adjust playback volume between voice and (background/support) music, then it's wrong. You're unique, but not alone - there are loads of YT creators out there that do this wrong in the sense of my rule of thumb.
