I have a few nikon lenses from the dslr. I was waiting in anticipation for a good aps-c camera to carry around. But this is a bit disappointing! Still 20mp sensor, no ibis and not even an EVF. Looks like I might as well take the plunge and jump into the world of fujifilm. 😢

@@zippofire8550 maybe you shouldn't be so condescending. Today we are increasingly displaying pics on digital screens. Do the math: to get an image which you can display on a 16:9 4K screen you need 11.06 MP on a 4:3 sensor. A 6k image would then need 1.5×1.5 i.e. 2.25 that I.e. 24.88 MP (44.24 MP for 8k). I use my camera to take pics which I would love to see in the future and reminisce. I would like to be able to display them on a higher res screen that I am likely to own in the future. Already the images on a 20mp sensor are not even 6K (on a 16:9 display) and then we crop further. If I want low detail images only for ephemeral posting on social media, I already have a smart phone that does the job well enough. Isnt nikon marketing this as "better than a smart phone"? In many situations when I would like a compact system which is nearly as handy as a smartphone, I cannot carry my longer focal length lenses. The ability to crop a bit more and still maintain resolution to display on a high resolution display is definitely advantageous. Again, if you are competing with a smartphone, this matters. This is not a high end camera, this is an entry level camera. It is going to compete with a smartphone at this price point. These are factors which would make it competitive. Do you believe that camera manufacturers other than Nikon are crazy for giving atleast a 6k level (stills) output even in their entry level cameras? Do you believe that those are for photographers who do not know any photography? Most people buying these cameras are enthusiasts with a decent knowledge of photography. Others are happy with their smart phones.

I think the 12-28mm range is fine for vloggers. 18 to 42mm full frame equivalent focal length. Very practical.

@@NikonEurope Just watched the 10-24 Dx and it cost more than the Z3. I hope you have a much more affordable lens, because you will see time and again people vlog with wider lens.

Man just saw the cost of the 10-24, it is extremely expensive at nearly 900 usd. I hope they have some kind of 12-24 or even starting at 14-40mm kit lens. If else they will have difficulty selling it.

I just looked into the manual and it seems that the Z30 has the same Auto Iso behaviour as previous Nikon cameras. Nikon doesn't seem to listen to feedback. So, if the last Iso you have chosen manually was 12800, then switching to Auto Iso in P/S/A will choose Iso 12800 as the minimum(!) Iso for the Auto Iso algorithm. A very annoying and stupid behaviour. No other camera manufacturer has this issue as far as I know. There's a reason why no other camera manufacturer implements such a behaviour: It's nonsense. It's unbelievable that Nikon still hasn't removed this behaviour even though this could be fixed with a firmware update within a few days. Instead they release new cameras with this bug (an absurd algorithm can only be described as a bug, no matter whether it is mentioned in the manual).

I bought this camera. A fully charged battery dies after 15 mins of shooting in 1080p. If you plug it into a powerbank, it overheats and shuts down. I really don't understand how Nikon can sell such a product and also name it a "vlogging" camera.

I've seen multiple people use this camera for hours straight. Maybe something was wrong with your model. I'd check on your settings before condemning the camera to see if those settings align with Nikon recommendations. This has happened with pretty much all mirrorless cameras at some point or another. If you're really looking to do long form content, you're better off with a camcorder as it won't overheat almost ever even in temps above 104° f, like the desert.

Nikon you are wasting production capacity clogging it up on a camera that's already in a flooded market. You now have a Z9 that people are being told they won't see till next year. How about what Nikon customers want a Z8 a cut down normal size version of the Z9 just like you did with the D850. You've got the nice lenses. I personally would buy it now.

From the comment I see, they are really expanding nikon market. I have been screaming for a camera like this because nikon was becoming the uncle Joe camera brand. That is for 30 and lower generation it was the old brand. This camera is late but from the comments it seems to be more well rounded than the rest and lastly, this will be produced on nikon z50 line and won't affect the other models. I surely hope they come out with z8 and z6iii with z9 technology. But this was sorely needed.

I think it should have 1 or 2 other features that would set it appart. It does somehow has 1080p 120 fps. If it is as good as the one in the z6 it will be quite good, even more with most vlogging is closer to 1080p.
