Great video from a real professional! Thank you so much. I switched to mirrorless too, but still have my Nikon D610 with all the Nikkor lenses I like so much. Also had a D 7200 which I sold and now regret for having done.. All the best for you!

I have saved this to watch it again. Thank you for your Fair minded and very helpful appraisal and recommendation of the Nikon Z50 . There is so much focus on Top of the range equipment and this is a welcome change from that.

Glad it was helpful Dezmond. Yes, I'm a believer that you don't need the top of the line gear to create beautiful photos and enjoy your passion for photography. I don't have anything against using high end gear, if your budget allows, but not everyone is in need for spending big bucks on their gear.

Nice review. I own Z50 and photos and video quality is really awesome for the compact camera with good ergonomics, especially for the low price you pay for it.

I would suggest to your viewers if they decide to purchase the Z50 to purchase both kit lenses. I did the mistake of only purchasing the 16-50 kit lens and I couldn't find the 55-250 kit lens at the time. I was told Nikon was busy selling the kits so there wasn't a lot of the lenses to be sold individually. Luckily I didn't buy a lens because I sold my Z50. Quite a disappointment for me. Best wishes Duane

Thanks Duane! Yes, I would recommend getting the two lens kit to those who are planning on getting the Z50. With these two lenses, you'll be covered for most focal lengths that most photographers would need. Then, you can also add a good prime lens to your collection.

I actually got confused myself! 😆😆😆😆 In terms of FIELD OF VIEW (!) you do get an image with crop sensor and DX lens, which is approximately the same as you would get with a full-frame sensor while using a full-frame lens which has 1,5 bigger focal length than the DX lens. But (!) TECHNICALLY SPEAKING it is not quite correct to compare the two and assume they are THE SAME. THEY ARE NOT! Because while you're using either zoom or tele- FX lens on FX body and, let's say, you take a picture at 300 mm focal length, yes, you would get approximately the same field of view as if you were using 200 mm DX (or FX) lens on DX body. But it doesn't mean that the DX image has been REALLY... MAGNIFIED to the same extent as was the case with 200 mm FX lens! 😆😆😆😆😆 What you're really getting is just cropped image! In other words if you use 200 mm DX (FX) lens on DX body you get a cropped (not magnified) image similar to the one taken with 300 mm FX lens on FX body. The rest depends on the type of sensor, on the density of units on the sensor, etc. etc. and may differ rather dramatically in terms of detail, dynamic range, amount of noise, color rendition, etc. In other words it is not quite justified to say that once you're using a crop-sensor camera you're automatically getting 300 mm zoom while using 200 mm lens. 😆😆😆😆 What you really get is mostly an APPEARANCE of a picture taken AS IF with 300 mm. Otherwise all the pros would have got ridden of their full-frame cameras and would have been working only with DX sensors. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Let's lighten up a little here. For the sake of brevity and simplicity of understanding the full frame & crop sensor format differences, I have used a more simple explanation. No, I don't believe all the pros would have got ridden of their full-frame cameras and would have been working only with DX sensors for the reasons you think I said. Both DX & FX camera bodies have advantages over the other. For a more comprehensive explanation of the DX & FX camera body format, see: photographylife.com/nikon-dx-vs-fx For those that want more in-depth information on these two formats, an interesting take from "Photography Life" reads, "if you are considering DSLRs, a DX camera like the D500 provides advantages over any of Nikon’s FX DSLRs: it’s faster than the D850 and has a higher pixel density than the D5 or D6. In this case, DX and FX DSLRs compete more on sensor size alone." On the other hand, FX format also has several advantages, such as : Better low-light performance More dynamic range Nikon FX mirrorless bodies have IBIS Wider field of view for landscapes Although, I'm now retired from the business of portrait & wedding photography and I enjoy using smaller & simple gear, but if I were starting today, like most serious and professional photographers, I would most likely use both the FX & DX formats and get the advantages from each. Aside from that, I think it's more important to learn at least some of the basics in photography such as lighting and learn how to use your cameras and lenses. Then you'll have a better understanding and appreciation of photography.

@@photofonzI don't know why you've decided that I was somehow upset or gloomy because of your way of explaining DX and FX sensors. 😆😆😆😆I mean why should there be a need to "lighten up"? And why have you decided that I need "to learn AT LEAST some basics in photography such as lighting and learn how to use your [my] cameras and lenses"? Do you really know me or my work THAT WELL to make such assumptions? 😆😆😆😆 Knowing technical side of lenses and sensors doesn't necessarily exclude knowing the other part, does it? 😆😆😆 I said it myself that the "rest depends on the type of sensor, on the density of units on the sensor, etc. etc", didn't I? In other words I do recognize that depending on the firmware, processing power and characteristics of the sensor SOME crop-sensor cameras can perform the same or even better within the same field of view of SOME full-frame cameras. But it doesn't mean that you can always assume while shooting with 200 mm lens on DX sensor it will always be the same as shooting 300 mm on full-frame. 😆😆😆😆 Because if we, in current times, were to follow this logic then it would make sense for everybody to switch to micro-four-thirds systems which have even smaller sensor than APS-C and thus having even smaller focus length lens we would be able to have the "SAME" image as with full-frame or even medium format, etc. etc. etc...😆😆😆😆 "Unfortunately" even in these modern times with all those trends towards miniaturization SIZE STILL MATTERS. At least at times, 😆😆😆😆. Whether it suits your presentation method or not. It is the reason why they made James Webb telescope' mirror 6,5 meters (21 ft) big, which is almost three times bigger than the one used in Hubble telescope previously.😆😆😆😆😆 Enjoy your retirement!

If you use DX lens (which is specifically designed for Nikon crop sensor cameras) with crop sensor camera YOU DON'T GET a multiplying factor of 1,5!! If you're using DX lens that has focal length of 16 mm on a crop sensor, 16 mm is WHAT YOU GET!!! Stop confusing people! You get a multiplying factor of 1,5 in case if you use a lens designed for FULL-FRAME camera on a CROP-SENSOR camera. 😆😆😆😆😆
