Shutter Priority, auto iso, shutter speed depends on their age but outdoors in bright sun 1/1000 to start maybe

Thanks for the tip, Joe! I use Fn2 to bring up the target box for tracking. So, Fn1 to change AF modes, then Fn2 to set up subject tracking. However, I love your suggestion to get metering on a custom button. Any suggestion for an alternate to Fn2 or Fn1?

It depends on the shot. If the highest FPS is important than AF-S - if you want to track a moving player then AF-C. I would use a smaller focus area rather than larger to get the specific player you are looking to take an image of in sharpest focus.

i just got the z5 and all works fine but!!! when i put it in to af-c all it does is click like a machine gun trying to focus so i cant use it in af-c .. i use af-c for weddings half the time no one is standing still.. its a pain and no idear how to fix it.. or it will be getting sold on ...idears???? cheers

Great video. It might have been helpful to show what is happening in the viewfinder as you hit the fn button and make changes. instead of just seeing you hold camera up to your face. Just a suggestion. Very helpful info though

For those spotlights on a specific person on concerts, I usually use the metering that is much derided by KZbinrs nowadays: Center-Weighted. Works specially good for short to medium distances. I use Spot metering when afar.

Hi Joe I just got my Nikon Z6ii and I can’t get it to continuous shoot by holding down the shutter button. Am I missing something or is there a minimum light requirement?

The camera certainly needs a minimum amount of light to focus and if the subject is moving the camera will need to refocus between each shot which may make it seem like it isn't continuously shooting and of course the camera needs to be in AF-C mode. There are a lot of variables here so hard for me to diagnose.

Sports without continuous back button focus seems strange? I use half press shutter for AE lock. Yup f1 is AF-area mode. f2 is grid for not crooked pics lol. Light meter is always set for blinkies but Z7II raw can pull massive shadows. Matrix is trusty.
