Thanks for stopping by! Let's keep the speculation about the Nikon Z8 in the comments section!

I guess it would be most sensical to make a Z8 with Z9 features without the grip and the FPS count. The Z7II just doesn't cut it at all for me as a D850 user, it lost 6 buttons compared to the D850 to start.
@rishikksh202 жыл бұрын
I think Nikon is waiting for Canon R1 and Sony R V to release both cameras speculation to have a high megapixel sensor with state-of-the-art features. After their release, Nikon could add the same feature set to Z8 and may sell it cheaper. My wish list for Z8: Fast BSI 75 MP/61MP sensor of 16-bit RAW image capability, same or better still autofocus & tracking of Z9 and 10 FPS RAW shooting at a Price point of $4500. Also Nikon should make Z7 lineup an 8k Video centric camera and Z8 a stills-focused camera.
@GethinColes2 жыл бұрын
I agree that the z8 will probably be high MP, but I'd be more interested in a mini z9, but more focused on dynamic range than speed. 8k 30fps raw video would be a decent compromise
@jacobh58172 жыл бұрын
I agree with your thoughts on the Z8. We use a couple of Z7II’s now (next to the H6D’s) and are thinking about the Z9 too. I have two issues with the Z7: a) the body is too small which also makes the buttons on the back right side too fiddly and b) the one-way tilt LCD screen is too limited in movement. I do fashion and make-up portraits and a two-way articulated screen would be perfect (like the Z9 or even better the S1/S1R). A slightly bigger body could also solve the fiddly buttons. I know that the battery grip makes the camera grip much better, but it doesn’t solve the buttons. In that respect I think Panasonic did a great job with the S1/S1R. Excellent grip and ditto buttons. 60+MP would be nice, unless it harms ISO performance at 6400 or below. Faster fps is nice, but also not a must-have though I understand that Nikon may need some spacing between models. But whatever they do, please no fully-articulating selfie screen…

Its hard to know what Nikon should make to increase their sales and profit, versus what some of us want. Sensor size, frame rate, video capability, body size, flip screen, illumiated buttons, optional battery grip all considerations.

A medium format Z8 would be awesome! That's the dream!
@ZacharyEldridge2 жыл бұрын
Allegedly the mount would support a medium format sensor. I can see this happening.
@RemyOrtiz2 жыл бұрын
If I was Nikon, I'd make a Z11, for marketing's sake. "We've turned everything up to 11!" would be great marketing ploy. I'd call the new format for MX, the M for Medium format, and definitely start with portrait and landscape geared lenses.
@JaspreetSinghArtist2 жыл бұрын
@@ZacharyEldridge yes mount can support larger sensor then FF but you will need new lenses for larger sensor and we only see FF sensor lenses on the road map so at least till 2025 we should not expect medium format unless there is some surprise.

I've had my z6 II for a year now. It's hard for me to say which way Nikon will go. I'm hoping that some of the tech from the z9 will trickle down into the next gen bodies. I would like to see stacked sensors in the z6 III and z7 III. That way there's no screen blackout. I don't care about video specs but I know some do. I think they could do a 60+ MP z7 III. The z6 III could be upgrade to like a 36 MP sensor or somewhere about that. 24 MP seems to be the sweet spot that so many camera bodies use though. The z6 and z6 II have great low light performance so I'd hate to mess that up. I've also heard people speculate that the z8 could be a cropped medium format stinkiest to Fuji's GFX 50 or 100. They claim the z mount is large enough to accommodate a larger sensor. Then Nikon could use the same glass for 3 different size sensors. Who knows?

Hopefully Nikon comes out with the Z8. I have both the D850 and Z7II as I only photograph portraits. I love them both but I’m still using my D850. It’s hard to explain my Z7II is missing something and it’s not about eye auto focus for me. It’s about the feeling of the Z7II. It’s not a pro body.

only Nikon knows for sure. If they do a Z8 what I think they will do is a Z9 body without the built in grip. Maybe 60mpx maybe 45mpx? Z9 type autofocus. 8K video, 15-20fps. Optional grip that will hold an extra battery. Take the same EN-EL18 family of batteries as the rest of the lineup other than the D5,D6 and Z9. CFE / USBII card slots. It is very possible they will forgo the Z8 and go for a Z7III. If they do do a Z8 then they have the "D850" mirrorless camera. Personally I would also like to see a D500 replacement but if they do a Z8 right it can shoot "crop mode" and maybe have faster FPS or effectively bigger buffer due to smaller file size. Whatever they come out with, it will be a year after launch before non "NPS" and non "Influencers" will see one.

There is speculation about a Z70 in late 2022 to mid 2023. It would essentially be a D500 replacement, with IBIS and improved focus that the Z50 doesn't have. I assume the body will be a bit bigger than the Z50 due to the IBIS.
@petar36832 жыл бұрын
Coming from a z9 user... I'll probably sell it and buy z8 if it comes in the form of the leaked picture (cover of this video). It looks rugged, smaller in size, and like it has a deeper grip. Maybe I'll keep z9 for those high frame rates but apart from that i don't really think i need it. So z8 (if the body is built well) is the way to go!
@apstudios012 жыл бұрын
Like your video but who said the Z7II was supposed to be the D850 replacement. Nikon surely never did. We just speculated it was. The Z8 will be announced this year because Nikon needs to fill the gap between the Z7II and Z9. The Z8 will be the competitor to the R5 and A7IV. Join me on my livestream tomorrow night (Sat 26Mar22 9:00PM ET) as we tackle this question.

Whatever the come up with, it better compete with the R3, Sony RVI, and Sony A1 .... Let's hope they do an announcement soon. And to simplify things, they can just discontinue the Z7ii and Z6ii or the Z6 or Z7 that way they won't have any issues with pricing it well, I would say, discontinue the Z6 and Z7 and lower the mark iis' price.

Medium format for landscapes and portraits would suit me just fine. I'm someone who has no need for 120fps or video in that type of camera. I also have no use for eye detection, especially on a bird or a frog. Get rid of all the garbage used for marketing and make a camera that concentrates on stunning images. Never happen, but I can dream.

The whole lineup needs another generation and the DX bodies need some lens love with more defined roles. Meaning Z50 is entry into Nikon mirrorless with a "Z60" as the mid-range and "Z70" as the D500 replacement.

Coke on people, think. The Z9 has seen unprecedented demand and Nikon can’t keep up, this along with new lens being in the same boat (Z 100-400mm) tells me there might be a development announcement of a Z8 in 2022 but won’t be released till 2023.

Don't know you. But fun show. Good job. My thoughts... have used a Z7& 72, Z9 on occasion. Never liked EVF to begin with. Now, after 1+2 years strongly dislike it. Don't like mirorless at all. Slow response, lags, did I say unlovable EVF, poor battery life, and worst of all for me, image quality issues. Low light pics no match for the D850. Also, as some have mentioned and I have harped on before, color not as saturated nor vibrant. and have gotten soft images unexplainably on occasion which you can read about elsewhere on the web. Vibrant, rich and deep color images is the hall mark of my high end pro work which brings in much dollars. So in particular upset with this issue. Have used Nikon as my primary since the 1960s. But if they dump the DSLRs, the D850 in particular, I will dump Nikon. And I am sure they are trying too dump them. Would bet my life on it. Wouldn't you. Much cheaper to produce, they have the market power to force us to switch and most impressively, whether or not the camera is indeed successful, the most successful marketing campaign I have ever seen. I mean, they got people believing in the Nikon bravado. And believing in the too fairy. I would do this too. Lots of money at their customer's expense. Which Nikon has done for the past 20 years. Which is why their market share, IMHO has gone from 90+% to 22%?. Canon at the shows gets me drunk, flashes some girls and lets me play with their cameras. Nikon yells a me for touching the glass where the lenses are encased then gets upset when I complain. Hence, why I by a Canon after every show I see them at. Love Nikon image quality but not mirrorless, nor it's image quality, despite their admittedly sharp across the board lenses. Am testing a Chinese manufacture's system which they make develop and deploy to compete with the Japanese. If any good will shoot you some snaps. Again, interesting fella. Keep up the good work.

I'm like you I used to buy at shows from who had the hottest looking girls Canon got you drunk! ha ha BUt sadly for you, you will soon be stuck with keeping your present system and buying second hand lenses etc or moving to Pentax! They are all going mirrorless

You mention about fitting the z8 spec wise with the z7II and Z9, the problem is people with always compare to the Sony and Cannon equivalent. The Z8 would go head to head with the Cannon R5, which shoots 45mp at 20fps, and the Sony A7R 5 when it comes out im sure will have similar frame rate, as the R5 has already been out over a year. Sony and Cannon did the clever thing of making their flagships R3 and A1 30 fps, so when they come out with their prosumer models like the R5 at 20 fps, they dont cannibalize their higher end market. With Nikon making the Z9 20 fps (in raw mode), they can't go near that amount with the z8, so by making it around 15fps, people will ask why its slower than the R5, which could be already two years old by the time the Z8 drops....just my thoughts. Its a shame so many folks compare cameras just with mp and shutter rate. In likelyhood, they will pick up the 60mp sensor from Sony, as they have always bought from their sensors from Sony. 15fps sounds about right, about double what the D850 could do. Same autofocus from z9. The really interesting thing is how much of the video features they take from the Z9. The cannon r5 already shoots 8k 30, so if Nikon match the Z9 specs with such as the 8k 60 fps, they would corner the video market for the price point which would win them alot of new users im sure, which they need to start get their market share back.
