I compare the Nikon Z8 portrait picture control to rich tone portrait control and also the new skin soften options that were added with firmware 2.0.

I can see the differences in the images. High softening is VERY noticeable in different lighting conditions. The softening effect is great to reduce the harshness of shadows too. It gives a more vintage touch. I wish nikon made more videos of these things, so we can learn how to use them better.

Just bought my Z8; arrives tomorrow! Now I have to decide if I want to go through with my Z6ii trade-in. I'm leaning towards "no." This video came at the perfect time!

What will they give you for the Z6ii? The Z6ii will have less noise at very high ISO, so if you do available light photography, keep the Z6.Plus its always good to have a backup. Thanks for watching my video.

I think the best of your cousin has to be the last one with Rich tone and High Soften. Question: are the output pictures jpgs?
