Amazing photos. I love channels like this that actually just show off the work with the camera instead of talking to the camera the whole time or showing the gear for 90% of the video.

Great video and great photos. I was a diving years ago in the 80's and 90's. Loved my Nikonos. Brought it out the other day for shits and giggles and the film advance broke. I am looking on e-bay for a a replacement. Now i've got the bug to start diving again and taking photos! thanks again for the inspiration to get back into underwater photography!

Thank you Roger, really happy to hear your inspired to pick up your nikonos again! Bummer to hear about your film advance, hopefully you can find a replacement. I was originally inspired by all the photos I saw people getting back in 70s-80s, It’s amazing these cameras still stand up in today’s world of image quality, for me at least! Thanks for watching , cheers

What were some of the tools you used to edit these film photos? Like what tools on Lightroom, etc.?
@alexbemanian Жыл бұрын
Hey Reece, most of the time I only adjust the white balance and apply a little bit of sharpening if needed. If you get a proper exposure the film stock usually shines through with nice colors. If you do get the Nikonos V, the apeture priority setting does a really great job if you don't want to shoot manually. If you take it in the water i suggest getting some type of wrist strap because the camera sinks fast! Good luck hope you enjoy !

Nice shots. What films did you use, color and black and white? An excellent tool for shooting at the beach in and underwater. A nice water and dustproof camera. Shooting at the beach is always a danger zone for all cameras and lenses. With this one you can stay relaxed at the beach, and you don't have to worry to damage your equipment.

@alexbemanian Жыл бұрын
that's awesome, its an epic camera. Check out my other video "nikonos iii" on my channel, i talk a little more about how to use the lens as far as settings and focusing. The nikonos iii and v use the same lenses so focusing and settings will be the same for both. The best tip i can give you is, #1 use at least a 400 speed film, #2 try to use an apeture around f11-f16 this will give you the best chance of nailing focus, #3 set your apeture at f11, then use the focus scale knob on the right of the lens so that the small orange arrow indicator on the right is lined up on the infinity symbol on the focus scale. When you do that, the other orange indicator on the left should land between the numbers 5' & 7". This basically tells you everything from about 6' to infinity will be in focus, and you can adjust it from there depending on how close or far you need to focus. hope this helps, good luck !

Hi Alex, great video. Any tips on composing when shooting surfers with the 80mm lens, have tried this with very mixed results, seems to be a variance between viewfinder and lens? Would love to hear more of your experience with the longer focal length?. Ps. Awesome shots!
@alexbemanian9 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you glad you enjoyed. If you’re using the nikonos V with the 80mm you will want to get the plastic frame finder that attaches to the hot shoe mount. You can use that to compose your shots a lot easier. When looking straight through the nikonos v cameras viewfinder, you only get frame lines for the 35mm lens, maybe that’s why your getting varied results. On the older Nikonos III the viewfinder gives you Framelines for both the 35mm and 80mm so you don’t need to use an external frame finder, not sure why they didn’t include that on the V. If your shooting surfing, depending on where you are positioning in the line up and how close you are to the action, try stopping the lens down between f16-f22, and set your focus knob so the orange indicators are pointing near 15’ and Infinity. With the 15’ distance at 80mm , it fills the frame well and everything from there on should be in focus. And since your all the way stopped down even if the subject is closer than 15’ you should get usable results. Also, shoot at least 400-800 iso film and if it’s not a bright sunny day I don’t even bother with the 80mm. Hope this helps , check out my nikonos iii video for more helpful info

@grey9847 Жыл бұрын
@@alexbemanian Yeah, another thing I was going to ask is if you develop your own film or not since your scans look super high quality. Where I get my film developed the scans arent the highest quality so im looking to rescan mine and then properly edit them.
@alexbemanian Жыл бұрын
I have my local lab develop my film and scan it, but over the years I’ve done a lot of scanning myself with an epson flatbed and dslr scanning with good results. Sometimes lab scans come back a little weird and usually need a touch up, id recommend trying out scanning at home so you can have full control over the end result. Good luck 🤙🏼
