Joe is one of these amazing photogs who made huge impact in flash photography, if it wasn't for him and his inspiring books, I would never be a photographer that I'm today

Although I am a Canon shooter I truly admire Joe McNally. He is the consummate professional and has a portfolio second to none.

Joe McNally is my speedlight, flash photography, Nikon CLS hero for years and his work inspired me to give flash photography a huge place in my own style, his work also was the reason for me to step into the Nikon System many years ago - sorry, but Mark Cruz should talk more to his guest than to the camera, he`s not the main person in this video

Great vid! At about 57:30 for about 3 minutes, a great plug for the D850. Too bad they are always on back order!

My go-to workhorse lens is the Nikon 24-120 mm f.4. It's a little slow, but I manage OK.

I wonder if Joe would use the Godox speedlights if he were not a Nikon Ambassador.
@stanrogers56134 жыл бұрын
Likely not, but it wouldn't be because Godox flashes aren't themselves good enough to do the job. It's the whole professional support thing. If Godox had loaners, quick repair turn-around, and all of the other things that people who really rely on their gear need to have in place, then why not? There's a difference between good enough to take the picture and good enough to do the job when the job is a real job and there's real money at stake. (Yes, you could argue that he could simply buy spares with the price difference. But this is Joe McNally - do you think that if he had seventeen "spare" flashes in his kit that they'd actually be spares? Nah, they'd be lighting something, and now he needs 38 "spares" that aren't going to be spares either.)

I do photojournalism, and I use flash if it's absolutely necessary. But I try to make the images look as if there's no flash. It shouldn't be noticeable. That's my approach anyway. Others may use just available light.

Nikon needs to build flash transmitter and GPS in to the cameras.
@46ace5 жыл бұрын
GPS? Definitely the flash RF transmitter.
@Mike-ei9ip5 жыл бұрын
@@46ace Sadly they prefer to sale it to us as extras that can get lost, forgotten at home or studio and takes-up flash shoe. It does feed corporate greed but it also upset customers. RF transmitter and GPS could be but in at minimum cost.

I apologize, but I'm a little hard of hearing, and I miss the manufacturer of the little mini softbox with the baffle and grid. Would someone leave it in a comment?

I had a fit when Kodak discontinued Kodachrome 25. I bought all i could get my hands on, then had to "settle" for 64.
