Hello from America. Another beautiful, genuine, and heartfelt reaction from you. One cannot help but get emotional listening to Damash's performances unless one does not have a soul. I am a 55-year-old guy and army veteran, whom many would consider pretty tough. Yet, I cannot help but tear up when I listen to many of Dimash's songs. He has the uncanny ability to become the song he sings and to make you feel the emotions the song is supposed to evoke. I am looking forward to more Dimash reactions from you. God bless.

@@annavaskelainen The problem is which one to watch first (you must watch both). That is, you can watch the Tokyo Jazz festival one and see Dimash and the musicians. BUT if you watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYfGpGqtoMuseZY, you get 1) the story; 2) great graphic artistry besides his singing. This one is much more moving to me because of the meaning through multi-media. So I'd recommend it first and then afterwards, you can carry that knowledge and feeling to watching Dimash sing it. Or you could try a split screen method -- but that's probably too much to coordinate and take in at once.

@@annavaskelainen Thank you so much for such a rousing reaction! I had very high expectations and you somehow exceeded them. When you started fangirling in the 2nd verse i thought we were going to lose you to Dimash forever, but you got it back together at the "Tribal" section. That was of course only temporary . . . But, great job! You got it all back together and gave us some excellent analysis. For anyone who is hyperbright and hypersensitive this song is a lot to handle in such a short time. And even when you were feeling all the feelings your musical ears were still on. When you say "i shouldn't be surprised anymore" and we all know what's coming next ... Anyway, this is the amazing thing about him, you always think he can't surprise you anymore, yet, every performance you see from him, there is something different and new that will have the exact same effect. Believe me Anna, this is just the beggining of the journey. From the famous "D8" everyone talks about, the amazing Adaggio performance, the angelic Love is like a dream, the powerful display in Ogni Pietra, the soulfulness in traditional performances like Dididau or Samaltau, i mean we could keep on going forever, he simply amazes us with each and every performance. What i think that few people discuss and might be interesting to check is the work he put in to reach this point. Everybody talks about his natural talent, which is undeniable, but there is a video that shows the way he started singing S.O.S. and how he improved the delivery year after year, showing that just talent is not enough, you have to put the work in. And my god, he did. Thank you for the reaction, really love your reactions and the way you connect to the music, we can clearly see exactly what you are feeling at every second and it was amazing watching it, i felt the goosebumps and also had watery eyes at the same points you had, with the difference i have heard this music i don't know, 100 times ? That is Dimash. For next reaction, it really doesn't matter, all will be good and i am sure you will do many more, just can't wait for it. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you for your message Pedro! 😊 I really love this kind of interactions. I intend to be genuine with my reactions and to give some good analysis too. Glad it comes through to you! Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Hello, I’m from Brazil! For those who like information about Dimas' songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer (to whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

If I had to pick one song from Dimash, it would be Know. I would not be able to decide which version though. Besides many others, there are two excellent versions of the song with lyrics (at New Wave 2019 and at the VTB arena in Moscow), and an amazing and mesmerizing vocalise only version without lyrics from the Arnau Tour concert in March 2020 in Kiew. I would love to see you react to at least two of them (one being the vocalise version) and analyze the different approaches he has to the song / tune.

A dimash song to listen to forever for me would be Akkuym (my swan) but the MV version. Usually Dimash's lives are so phenomenal that i wouldn't choose an MV over live for him ever. Except for that song. The arrangement (vocals and instruments both) is just so beautiful and because he is forever evolving his songs, in all aspects of the arrangements and his vocal choices too, you don't usually get the same performance twice from him so I've never seen a live replica of that Akkuym arrangement so I listen to the MV to get my fix haha. The lyrics are very pretty too, it started out life as a duet with him and a female singer but they managed to morph it into a solo song and massively changed a lot about the song, even the tempo, and it became the beautiful song that is Akkuym with only Dimash singing this time. But yeah the MV's arrangement is just so beautiful to me. Usually Dimash's lives are so amazing that I would only listen to a MV version once or twice and just go back to the live version but Akkuym MV is so special to me. I even have listened to it when getting ready for intense hospital procedures etc as it helped to calm me down in advance a bit (wasn't nervous beforehand but just wanted to make sure I had music swimming in my head in case I got nervous during the procedure etc). Thank you for your reactions, really love them.

Yes, the instumentation in this mv 'Akkuym' is incredible, one of the best Dimash-Erlan duo has done! Also the sound quality is awesome. This mv should be recommended to all musicians, I think. Those who I have seen reacting this mv were so excited. Such an original mix of pop, folk and jazz influences, both in music and vocals. So, so good - I like it much better than the previous duet version. I also feel it's fascinating how Dimash develops his songs, gives them new flavors and meanings. Like a blossoming plant that makes new buds all the time. Or a spring that never dries out since it takes water from the depths... There are some Dimash's songs that I didn't first mind so much but then he changed them to something I really love. Like this song 'Akkuym'. The other is 'Golden', which was nice first but when Dimash released the newest version, with rough, rocky vocals and more fierce attitude, wow! And the mv to that song is one of my favorites. I love his refined, subtle acting and the great message in the end. Ugh, I am totally in love with his art, and how he is making it 🙏

Your changing facial expressions, as he moves from one amazing moment to the next, remind me the pleasure of first hearing this song. Your thoughts illuminate you! When I began to listen to Dimash, I was amazed by his vocal ability, but wondered how far it could carry him. Virtuosity for its own sake can be tedious and unengaging. But I have been happily surprised by his maturity, his repertoire, and his artistic intelligence. He consistently persuades me that he is using his voice to serve the music, the lyrics and the emotion. Here, all the various register / style / technique combinations he uses are crazy! It could be such a mess. But he knits the pieces together so effortlessly, and with such conviction, and with such control, that the whole is integrated, beautiful and authentic. How did he know, as an adolescent, or even younger, that this was where he wanted to be, when the place had not yet been discovered? A child invents his own destination, and 10 or 15 years later, he arrives, and finds it to be as beautiful as in his dreams. It's remarkable and he is a genius.

Thank you Anna! As a teacher of singing, and a fan, you may be interested to check out this analysis of his performances of SOS dating from 2012. We all understand he must have put in a lot of work to achieve the control of his instrument, but this really brings his achievement to life. The song did not just pop out of his mouth one day, but he worked every aspect of it, pitch, placement, volume and phrasing. And then he worked again. And again. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3fFh5J8mriqmZo Seven years to perfect one song. Like an apprentice to his own sorcerer. To sing like that, at eighteen, he must already have worked his voice through puberty to hold on to his treble. Most boys just stop talking for a year or so! He has a sound, but it's a bit like one of those circus dogs that can walk on its hind legs - amazing, but what is the point? But he knows where he is going, and he keeps on testing himself in the crucible of public performance. He improves, and you can hear him achieving goals one by one, controlling the air, smoothing the transitions, finessing his vibrato, altering his phrasing. We see him hit those notes now, and wonder how he does it, in a live performance. It's because he was willing to fail, and try again. That requires incredible courage. Add to that, in a very traditional and conservative society, he was embracing something within himself that is considered feminine. These things require courage and passion, to an extraordinary degree. His off-stage persona is very humble, considered, reserved, and protective of his privacy. He sees himself as an ambassador for his nation, and is diplomatic to a fault. He is no diva - think of Western singers of his age, Justin Bieber or Harry Styles say, and whatever they are, he is not. But on stage, his passion and his personality explodes out of him, he is a volcano of emotion. He goes crazy sometimes - there's an ascending scale in one of his concert performances of Daybreak, for example, that is an eruption of grief, as he leaps onto his knees. It's a shocking moment. You realise that like many a great actor, the stage is the place where Dimash can most be himself. It's not surprising that some of his fans deify him. I'm a little bit in love with him myself! We project something of ourselves, and our own desires, onto the performers we admire. That is the mechanism of art. But he is not a god, nor a wizard, nor a cypher. He is a man, very gifted no doubt, but fallible, and mortal, as we all are. Fame can be a prison, or a curse. He his wise beyond his years, he has his family around him, and now Igor Krutoy, who is clearly an excellent mentor, as well as a fine collaborator. Still, I hope the public, and the media, allow him the space to make mistakes, to grow, and be himself. You will enjoy Dimash's songs with Krutoy. He is wise old bird, and he is clearly encouraging his protogee to spend more time in his natural baritone (which he must be to get those chocoalety notes at the bottom of his range). The forays into soprano pyrotechnics are still there, but more considered. This is a good policy artistically, but a pragmatic one too, for the longevity of his career. Dimash is like his own son, and his muse. You can hear it in his piano playing when he accompanies him. He loves him. It's very touching. Ok, I'll stop prattling. Anyone would think I'm a dear, which I am not! I've never been very good at being in clubs. A non-aligned independent admirer. I have to admit, however, that he has brought some light into what has been a rather long and dark winter, and I am grateful to him for that. I send best wishes to you in Finland, Anna, a magical place of forests and lakes and music! I have fond memories of visiting Helsinki, so pretty with its clapboard churches and onion domes, a meeting place of two cultures, and so civilised. Even the drunks were polite! Bloody cold though, Jesus! I still have the warm woollen hat I bought at Stockmann. "If you can't get it at Stockmann, you don't need it!" Whenever I find myself adrift on Amazon, bewildered by choice, I think of Stockmann!

He has had a daily habit of swimming (I think one hour/day currently), hence his ability to sustain the notes for so long. My preferred songs from him actually change from day to day depending on my mood. I love the following: Adagio (better react to the one from I am a singer contest), Autumn Strong, Daybreak (from Bastau), Your love, Love of tired swans, Olimpico, Know, Passione, Give me love. I hope you'll react to some of them, they are truly wonderful.

I am staggered that anyone could give dimash a thumbs down. Even if you do not like this kind of beautiful music, maybe heavy metal is your thing, if music (and not just noise) means anything to you at all, you should recognise I musical genius and perfection when you hear it. I know nothing technically about music but the first time I heard Dimash he touched my soul, I knew this was unique, way beyond a normal voice. That is why I have been watching every vocal coach reaction I could find so I could understand just why he is so unique and different. The more I learn about his skills, technique, vocal abilities etc the more in awe and addicted I am. And the type of songs he sings, oh my goodness. Look into the background of Daybreak, and some of his other emotional ones based on true events. Impossible to pick one song. Every song is so different and unique, even different versions of the same song are different. So big thumbs down to to anyone who must be musically tone deaf so as to give him a thumbs down

Hi Anna. Great reaction to such an amazing performance! The song from Dimash would be Love is like a dream or Know/Vocalise. I really can't decide! If you want to hear his very low/operatic voice then listen to Olimpico. It is incredible...you will think it is a different singer! By the way Dimash has been doing swimming for much of his life so I suppose that is one of the reasons why his breathing/breath control is so amazing. Looking forward to your next reaction. One song to choose from dimash would be hard.... but I think my favorite would be love is like a dream. Closely followed by autumn strong, know and daybreak from the Bastau consert! I love your reactions! Thank you for sharing your knowledge

Of all Dimash's songs I've listened to so far I would take "Ogni Pietra" (aka "Olympico") Arnau version. This is something incredible. By the way, you repeated after Dimash "dai mne, dai mne" so well that it made me suspect that you know Russian to some extent. Am I right? And, of course thank you for you highly professionsl and sincere reaction. Looking forward to more.

Subscribed. Love your reaction style: calm but very knowledgeable and still emotional. All this with a sense of humour. My favourite Dimash song will probably forever be the first SOS, because it was my introduction to Dimash. For sheer emotion, I'd choose Autumn Strong (also from The Singer) with Sinful Passion, Ogni Pietra and Love Is Like A Dream not far behind

Thank you so much Nico! 🥰 I am so glad you enjoy my style of reacting!🙏 S.O.S really is something else, isn't it? It was the first song I heard, too and it will have a special place in my heart. Autumn Strong, Sinful Passion and Love Is Like A Dream are also on my listening/reaction list now. Be well! xx

Anna, thank you once more for your excellent reaction to another Dimash performance. I've listened to Dimash reactions for a few years now, and while I tend to enjoy nearly all of them to a degree, the ones that stand out are like yours here, from highly trained and talented performers and vocal coaches. I'm a linguist and have been formally educated about human language from the complete other end of the spectrum, so highly technical and informative reactions like yours and others' allow me to learn it all anew from the other end, which I find absolutely fascinating and just plain fun. As someone else may have noted, the "Eastern sound" following the E6 probably involved something I've heard referred to as a caprino (literally, "goat trill"), and also as a kind of yodeling, while the long riff lasted (by most accounts) for 22 seconds -- on one breath, while hopping back and forth from foot to foot without missing a beat. Stunning! If I had just one Dimash song to listen to forever, it would without doubt be the SOS performance from the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition. Mind you, I have about a dozen close-second-places, but that one performance is probably THAT ONE for me. Interesting question, though. I would actually discourage anyone from trying to answer it, though, for their first year or so of Dimash listening. There's just too much to wrap your ears and heart and mind around to hurry a question like that. Again, thanks for your wonderful reaction here. Cheers.

Thank you Jim for writing such a thoughtful and kind message! 🥰 I am glad you like my style of reacting. I try not to enter too much into the "vocal nerd" mode so that more people can understand what I am talking about! I really liked the oriental singing style in this one. As well as that riff omg! SOS is a great pick! 👌 It touched me a lot, too! I totally understand your point though, this was just a lighthearted question! xx

Thanks for an amazing technical reaction. I learned so much from your analysis. Sinful Passion was originally written and performed in 1998 by a Russian-based Kazakh band called A-Studio. They accompanied Dimash for this performance and at the end of the video, he humbly thanked them. The gentleman in white who gave him a standing ovation is Igor Krutoy, a famous Russian composer, who's written several amazing songs for Dimash. The interesting vocal style Dimash used towards the end of the song is called a vocal trill which is a classical technique and is the least familiar of the vocal manoeuvers. A singer with an even, rapid trill is a rarity. The director of the Rossini Opera Festival, Alberto Zedda has opined in an interview that the "widespread technical deficiency", the inability to trill, is a source of "frustration and anguish". Dimash modified the traditional vocal trill by adding a Yakuti yodel technique as well as an Arabic maqam which is a system of oriental scales, melodic phrases and ornamentation techniques. He did it all to perfection. It’s wonderful that he’s introduced these classical and oriental techniques into a pop song for the benefit of the non-classical world.

I can offer a list of 3 because they are very different and I can not choose between ! 1. Love is like a dream 2. Ogni Pietra (or under other name Olimpico) 3. Across Endless Dimensions. Very very nearly are Daybreack and Daididau and Adagio ! In fact I listen daily Dimash and the list is depending on my emotions the day offered to me and my list is very very long (over 100 songs in a lot of versions). Dimash is not the only artist I watch, I listen to Celtic Womens, Andre Rieux, Lara Fabian, Queen, Beatles, Michael Jackson and so ! But I am too old for Justin Bieber !
