While at a friends house in 1996, my 29yo younger brother, and only sibling, was the victim of homicide, in the middle of the road, perpetuated by a complete stranger who had been terrorizing the neighborhood in recent weeks. The sh00t3r was eventually caught, eight years later, pled down to "voluntary manslaughter", and was sentenced to 10 years. There is no such thing as "closure"...only a gaping hole that can never be filled. You just learn to live with it. Thank you, Nik, for another, long-awaited, episode of "CraftTime Mystery". Humans can be truly evil.💔 Thank you, as well, for your closing sentiment.💗 Love and blessings, Tracy xoxo

They definitely need to change the laws!! I heard this story a while back and it blew my mind that her family had to watch the " killer" ( allegedly) walk away!!! I haunt that little girl til my dieing day if it was my child. I'd make sure everyone she came in contact with knew what she was!!! I can't imagine the pain her family went through!!!! You always make rebinding a book look so easy!!! Flawless ❤❤❤

I couldn't agree more with regards to the "closure" debate. You are 100% correct. There is no closure for the family. Like millions of others, I know first-hand. I love your CraftTime Mysteries.. Thanks.

Great video! The book looks amazing. I was wondering when you'd do another Craft Time Mystery. My intuition tells me that Renae found out on that last day what Camilla had done and couldn't handle the betrayal. This story is so tragic. I agree that the catfishing laws should include penalties for prolonged deception/manipulation. It's frustrating when bad people get away with their crimes and hurting people.

Wow. Thanks for sharing Renee’s story. Catfishing always makes me react with that 20/10 Hindsight…how could they not have suspected something? You are right, hindsight gives us very clear vision. Having raised 3 kids, it’s impossible to really know what demons lurk in their heads. When that negative voice is so overpowering that it can control one’s will to live, in my mind, that is the ultimate cruelty inflicted on one soul by another. Prayers go out to Renee’s family, and to Camilla, that she may get the psychological help she needs. A tragic story, indeed.

Hey Nik, although I'm in Australia, I've never heard of this case (although admittedly, I do avoid tv, newspapers etc., in order to stay sane). Another person was prosecuted in a 'catfishing' situation where the victim thought she was in a relationship with a teen boy of her own age & 'his father' would pick her up from the train station for their first meet. It actually served to deliver his victim to him, where committed murder, so he was charged with poor girl's murder, & not all the deception that caused it. However, I thought you'd like to know that since these deplorable things happened, all of our state & territory governments, together with the Federal Government, have been implementing coercive control laws into current family & violence legislation all around the country, so these low-life cretins do now have something tangible to answer to.

I think if we could have all their texts then we should not be shocked to see Brayden breaking up with Renée and practically pushing her into Camilla's arms. Somebody so possessive over estimates their understanding of their victim and say things to hurt them very badly, such as 'why dont you do the world a favour and jump off a cliff ' the intention behind it to manipulate the victim into a postion they want, like crying on Camila's shoulder, not actually literally doing what they said. I think it explains why Camilla became very eager to help find Renee, and then the disappearance of texts when the investigation caught up with her. What is sad is that Camilla doesnt miss her friend like Renee's ither friends and family, and from her side Camilla had skin in the game. If only she was as bereft as Renee's family and friends, but shes not because by her actions, we can tell that her whold world view is distorted, and thats only scratching the surface. It will be difficult for Camilla to go on and live a life without crime being involved, so if this was 2011 I'd love to know where she is now.

Poor girl and her family. When in the midst of mental abuse, and that is exactly what was happening, it’s hard to see what you should. I hope Karma catches up to Camila. There will never be closure for these poor people. Love this book. I’m a fan of Shel Silverstein.

It's a crime that Camilla could not be charged with something. She drives this young woman to commit suicide and then has such little feeling for her that she won't admit to the part she played. So terribly cold and cruel. Punishment of some kind needs to follow this evilness.

That was a very sad and frustrating story that you told beautifully, thank you for telling it. While I was listening to you tell the story, I once again( like I do with all your videos)kept thinking, who does her voice remind me of and it finally dawned on me. Your voice, your tone, your pronunciation of certain words like "paper" and even your phrasing of sentences reminds me of actress Alexandra Breckenridge, who is currently in the series Virgin River. Maybe I'm crazy, but you two sound remarkably similar, makes me wonder if you're possibly from the same place. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I am an imperfect bookmaker, I frankenstein most of my books, but your tutorials have helped me tremendously, thank you so much. Looking forward to the next one...📗💕😀

It seems Camilla had groomed Renae..and she couldn’t get past abusive relationships. It’s absolutely awful how manipulative and controlling she was, it made me physically sick to my stomach. There has to be something imbalanced….sick even, in a person’s brain to even remotely think this is a ‘normal’ behavior.

Whatever Camilla said she made sure it was something so hurtful that it would drive Renee to take her own life. I wonder if she even told her she should do it. But as you said there is no way to prove it. I'm just heartbroken for all the victims. I hope justice comes in some way or form and that Camille pays for what she did. May not be through the courts but that justice still comes to get her for what she has done. I knew someone similar, but thankfully I was able to break free. It's truly terrifying how skilled at manipulation some people are. Often you don't even realize just how bad it was until you've been free for some time.

Wow... that book turned out gorgeous. The story... not so much. I mean, I listened intently, but it is such a sad story that it was far from gorgeous. It's always so sad when a vulnerable person is manipulated by a conniving, evil being and it ends in this sort of tragedy. Perhaps on that last day, Camilla deliberately told Renae that it was all a farce and that Renae's beloved didn't exist. I could see her laughing and making fun of Renae for not knowing or even suspecting. She is a cruel, uncaring being, so this would be quite possible... and even probable. We'll never know the truth because Camilla certainly isn't going to admit to anything that she might be held accountable for.

Renae wanted to believe in Braedon. There is nothing wrong with that. When will we stop making accusations aimed at victims and turn those accusations towards the perpetrators who actually did do wrong? There is something horribly WRONG about trying to find reasons to blame the victim.
