After watching this series (absolutely amazing).... and having so many flashbacks, memories stimulated from my childhood, and even though I’m only 60, I have decided to change my status from old, pensioner, and all those other names. I am VINTAGE.

While watching you fill each pocket and envelope I couldn't but think what an awesome botanist's field journal this would make! I can just imagine tucking away different dried flowers and leaves, and pictures of the fields or forests where they came from. I love how it turned out, especially with the classic literature scattered about. Thanks for sharing!

First off, thank you so much for showing us how to make this amazing fun-filled folio. The time you spent to make it AND film it for us, is a gift. I imagine that this is something I could make for my new niece and new nephew as a keepsake. It would be something for them to take in the car to keep busy and to keep their secret notes with all of those hiding places. ...And wow, did that fabric come out cool. Love it, def ethnic vibe. Reminds me of my tie-dyeing days but an updated style. Thanks Nik.

Absolutely wider spine! Mine is SOOOOO full, but fabulous! It’s been so fabulous making this along with you. Mine is full of goodies to make and add to journals.....but I love just opening up all the bits and pieces as an interactive activity in itself!! Just so much fun Nik! Thanks so much for this journey!😘👍

I'm so glad I'm the type of person to skip to the ending of the end of the story. After seeing the finished product, I can't wait to watch the "middle of the story"! I've been busy corralling all the parts and pieces to get started. Since I'm the type of person who needs a purpose for things, I have a hard time adding things that don't have a purpose. So, that being said, my lap book is going to be a gift for my sister. As I am the keeper of our mom's "stuff" the lap book will be about her. Pictures, love letters, her school work, pay stubs etc. Thank goodness for pack-rat parents! Unfortunately, my mom is in the middle/end stage of Alzheimer's Disease, and her stories to us are permanently locked away from us. Collecting stories and memories from family will be a fun project. I hope it turns out well. Thanks for giving me a path to follow/wander in this memory journey. Cheers! Leslie (Sorry my post is so long... :)

Totally loved the book covers used on this project Nik. It will be one lucky persons treasured possession for sure. I'd be using that for a great trip, record keeper. Don't forget to add a nice pen or pemcil. There's enough room, just. 😂 As for the dyed fabric. Really liked that. Does anyone else see animal heads and torsos... Just staring out the cloth....weirdly all dressed in shirts.? Proper trippy. 😊

Spent my last two and a half days watching these videos again. I bet I’ll be doing that again cause there’s so much to learn. Should have watched these with a pencil and paper in hand to take notes and remember to think about the steps before taking the steps. Forethought is not exactly my forte as well. I have two covers all ready to go for a lapbook of my own. I wish I had found something like yours but no luck. However one of the covers is this super gorgeous tuscan orange. Please make more of these lapbooks. Maybe one specifically for a teacher. Lov’ya Nik! 💕❤️💕

I have lived this whole series! You e given me lots of ideas. People in these photos don’t smile because it took several minutes to take one photo. A solemn face is much easier to maintain than a smile. In my family if kids kept their solemn face, after the photo they got candy!

There's no way this lapbook could have turned out better. Loved every bit of the full series. I don't often drop everything I'm doing to jump on something that inspired me to do so...but this one I did. (which isn't to say I'm particularly good at finishing projects before I start new ones...but this one was an immediate re-direct) Many thanks for sharing this with us all. Hello Nik - I love the lapbook project, and your dye project was fantastic. What a wonderful pattern. When you said "ice cube" dying, I envisioned freezing colored water into ice cubes and letting them melt. I did Kool-Aid dying, of floss and yarn with my students one year, and that was the method. It is less of a mess if the students don't have the powder in their hands. Thank you for always sharing your knowledge and talent so generously. I am looking forward to creating a lap book a la Nik in the near future.

I have been on Cloud 9 with this series! My 'stuff' took forever to arrive, so I'm, like, clear back on the steps from vid #2, but still....loving this so much, I got sorta emotional to know that there won't be more episodes to the Lap book. Still, another Seraphina is something to look forward to....AND cannot wait to see the little bookcase. LOVED the ice dying--a total win. Looks heck and gone easier than my old tie-dying escapades .....emphasis on 'old' as in old hippie.... Thanks for all you share with us, Nik. It means more than I have words to express.

Love this series. As for the not smiling in photos thing, if those are reproductions of real vintage photos, then yes, they are all like that. Smiling in photos was seen as frivolous and inappropriate. There's also the historical fact that you had to stay still, sometimes even several minutes, for the photo. Smiles falter pretty quick if you have to force it.

I have learned so much from you. I decided to make a lapbook for my sister and watched several different artists make their journals but they did not compare to yours. My lapbook has a three inch spine and two signatures. Thank you very much for helping me through this you are amazing
