I seldom do a revisit on posting a comment....(never mind..lol...I just noticed my first comment has disappeared) but...I made a bunch of these today....and they really ARE the answer to the annoying issue of having little bits of paper that are too pretty to throw out and they also redirect you from cutting into a full sheet of paper, for that perfect lil bit you want. I made 6 of them...and they are semi colour specific. Blues, greens and teals.....reds, pinks and oranges...black and whites...yellows, golds and oranges....browns, beige and ivory......kinda like that. This is one of THE best scrap access solutions I have ever seen....and they look darned cute even when they lay out in the open on your workspace. And they need to, if they are going to serve their purpose. Thank-you again for sharing this brilliant (and cute as pie) solution to a common problem. I'm concerned that they are SO cute, that I may start ripping up perfectly good FULL sheets of paper, just to make more....lol

Love this idea! I have trunks, boxes, crates full of (hoarded) papers. I’m 64....I figure I can sort through and create these adorable samplers by the time I’m 90! No kidding...I’m thinking we could do them in color collections. Yeah, I love it! Thanks soooo much!

Glenda Cox , I’ve only been doing junk journaling for about a year now and I have enough scraps to last 2 life times. This a great idea about sharing with others.

I have a tip for you. When working with bakers twine or embroidery floss or any thread type that can unravel, place a dot or two of book binding glue (art glitter glue, tomboy mono multi, whatever) on the end you're threading and roll it around the tip. With your first two fingers. It will dry stiff and make the tip into a needle. Then just snip that tp off once you're project is threaded.

Oh my gosh I love these little sampler ideas! Can’t wait to make a few! Also I am making some junk journals as grief journals and now I can add a few of these sampler books with the journals I give away. A small tip that really works for me Nik, I add a dot of glue to the end of my bakers twine or twine or whatever and roll it between my fingers….the glue holds it together and even makes it a bit stiff so it will thread through the hole easily! You don’t even have to wait for the glue to dry as it absorbs right away into the fibers. Give it a go and see how you like it! It works awesome. Karen

Loving the new camera/view setup Nik, your room looks awesome and makes me want to go and tidy mine haha! I work in exactly the same way as you, EVERYTHING gets pulled out when I am working on a project (whether I need it or not) and then once it's finished, OCD kicks in and everything HAS to be spotless again until the next projects! Doesn't matter whether I am working on JJs, jewellery, beadweaving or handstamping, it always looks like a toddler has trashed the place lol. I refer to it as organised chaos!! xx

Nik, these are SO neat! They made me think of when I was little and would ask the local paint store for their outdated wallpaper books. I'd use some to cover my school books, and make 'stuff' out of the rest. Something to try when sewing with twine or anything with plies, you can put a little white glue on the end, and shape it to a point, It makes threading so much easier. Off to make some mini-samplers, thanks Nik! :-)

It is so cool being able to see a face! When I first started watching junk journals/book making on utube...it felt so weird only watching hands and hearing a voice. I understood why...so we can see what you are doing...but this is so much better...having a face. Great idea. Plus, some of the tubers never show their face, so we have no idea what face to put with that voice...and hands 🤚. Like with you, we had seen your face a few times so we could imagine you talking...but this is even better. I hope more catch on to your ingenious idea💡

I really like this idea! I have tons of scraps that I've been trying to use more of, and recently I've just been keeping a little tray of a few of them on my desk. If you put a drop of clear nail polish on the end of your string then twirl with your fingers and let dry (use instant dry) and it makes it so much easier to sew. Also if you are treading a needle cut a piece of paper about a inch and half long and the width of the hole in your needle, fold in half and lay the end of the string so it touches the fold and string paper through the eye of the needle. Works every time. Sorry about the length of my sentences.

helpful hint; when you need to push twine or string or even ribbon through small holes; take a few inches of floral wire and bend it in half, now you have a loop to draw string through holes so fast, like a needle threader for bigger stuff. I started doing this when making rosaries for missions, cord pulling goes far faster than pushing it through as it frays.
