Cheese is boring. I prefer having a skill to dodge, reaction and parry to just an easy linear approching. Died many times doesn't bother me. I get a prize from improving my reaction on parrying, dodging, countering make the fight feel more legit. This would improve my self for other game that also have similar battle.

ez cheese if anyone wants it: eredrim (don't need stam so HP is king) - hallowed sword - start charging a heavy then harden and let him come in and hit then release. repeat. I put a pod cast on because it takes a while :D

Use the mace heavy attack, when your stam is full and your harden, press the heavy attack when the animation has the mace getting ready to upper cut harden and hold it he will harden and then hit you then it will release, now you hit him once and should have full stam again then dodge back wait for the harden to reset and rinse and repeat you dont need any upgrade or anything and can get him, go through both times and never get hit, now there will be times when he dodges but its rare. And it dont matter if he gets on your side or almost behind you will still hit him, use this strat if you are having difficulty, see the problem with this game and Elden Ring is we are so used to getting in and whacking the mobs to death and not one hit move that is the difficulty. Its easy when you train your brain not to engage or the game will punish you because it wants you to fight like that remember.

Wait I figured it out! You actually start a game using the Virtuous cycle choice! I only have 1 main file so idk if it loads the most recent, but it loads you in the “rogue like” dlc. Just go down the stairs and talk to the SG statue. It brings you back into the normal game with him sitting in the corner!

In short. to get the Axatana you need to earn the 4 base weapons first.

I'm confused by the harden ability. Why do you guys use it mid swing? His timing of it makes no sense at all, especially since it's like clockwork. Overall the fight look very simple due to his harden pause *every single time*.

You probably already have your answer to this. But in the off chance that’s not the case. From what I remember, a hardened attack does more damage than non-hardened one. You can also double hit your opponents with a single attack. It’s better to have an attack queued up while you’re hardened instead of doing nothing. Example: Marty’s Blade The First Light is a cleave attack,Second Light is a Thrust,Same for Third First Heavy is a big hit coming from the top,Same for Second Move and Third Attack Cleave So it goes like this,Usually you have time to do 2 lights,then harden while having the Cleave heavy queued up, when Harden breaks you’ll land that heavy and take no damage.

I get the mace and use that throughout but never upgrade until you get the Axatana save the acid that way you will kill everything almost instantly.

You have to kill all 3 hadern bosses first. The ones to unlock the weapons then he will be sitting there. If he is not sitting there for you then maybe your game is just bugged

My way of winning was looking at the mace and when he hardens wait and counter harden infront of him it allows a massive combo and his cooldowm is the same as yours

and make sure that you need a new save file.

You do not need a new save file. I only have one save file and he was there for me. You gotta download the dlc, start your game, close the game to restart it, and load your save file. If you've done this and you've beaten Hadern the other three times, he'll be there. For good measure, you can just enter the virtuous cycle with the twin sister, then go downstairs and use the petrified SG to go back to the main game and Hadern will definitely be sitting there. If he's not, your game is borked.

I recommend this method is for advanced players nonetheless excellent video mate it talking and playing at the same time during boss battles it deserves a sub. BTW I got all weapons all shells and Hades still hasn't showed up what am I doing wrong

Hadern and his weapon require either the Virtuous Cycle DLC or the Enhanced Edition version of the game.

After rebooting game after playing and beating it last year...don’t understand how I ever beat this game in the first place...considering my char after pressing circle just refuses to dodge? I’m not understanding wtf is going on...I don’t remember the combat being so clunky as the combat was one of the main draws for me...did they change something? Hi good day sir. i hope you get to notice my comment. i have followed each and every step of your tutorial, except that i kill the boss in every temple. and yes, Hadern appeared in the Fallgrim Tower. i have defeated him twice. but i didn't get the Axatana. also its nowhere to be found. but i got to use it by purchasing the item that summons the axatana to me. but its bugged, whenever i try to execute its special, it doesnt do anything and i cant attack. i only get my attack back when i respawn... please help. i really want to use the axatana.. thank you very much

I can confirm it works no need to start a new game after defeating hadern 3 times return to the tower if he is not there just return to the main menue and then load your game after that he should appear in the tower worked for me.

@@hristobibov issue is for some people the statue is not showing up at all even having the dlc installed. I put the addon in my Library, when I go check it says installed but when I go to the spot where statue supposed to be, there's nothing there
