how functional is a "fleet eater network" with 2 or more ships bouncing an ion beam between them ?? seems like it could have a very high damage output . concidering the beam could bounce many times . . of course the downside would be manivering the formation into the right position

If you want to increase the front of you ship's durability trying weaveing small shields with large shields. When the large shields are down the small shields can take some damage while the large Sheilds are refilled. Not only is this more durability but the EMPs are distance baseed so the larger shields will be emptied while the smaller shields will not. Giving you some EMP protection. [edit Grammer & Spelling]

boost thruster description: a variant of the large thruster that can inject raw plasma directly into its combustors for a powerfulbut short-lived boost. *Power cannot be delivered while boosting.*

I'm watching other streamers doing more or less the same journey than you at the same pace. It's very interesting to see how your personnality reflects on your ship. Not good looking but insanely effective and versatile. Doing the 1-ship challenge was a good idea. Battles are also easier for you than them ^^. You don't need 1/8 speed and worrying about ships bad positionning (fleet management is random...). After this you can try to battle factions lvl 18 area to see if you can survive. The fact you can reverse-thrust escape any situation should be enough. Jolly good show anyway, as expected.

When I saw you destroy the railgun ship with your railguns, I thought about whether or not adding shields between the railguns on your ship would make sure that even when partially destroyed, that can at least still fire somewhat.

I've found flying a massive Capital Ship class is quite fun, but even more fun: a fleet of them. 4 big ones using rails, missiles and prisms, and two small support "figher" ships to run debilitating interference on enemy ship's engines. Burning through 16-18 like it was nothing, and more than enough resources in my 7th ship, working only as a materials storage (initially to just have all resources when wanting another ship, ended up with all markets being saturated, so can't sell it all 🤣) Cosmoteer is quite addictive, thanks for introducing me to the game, @Nilaus 😍

It is funny, because right now I am in the process of designing a really cool hybrid ship in Cosmoteer that is both a Railfan and an Ion Rammer, plus with a possibility to become an Ion Kiter with a press of a button, and the thing KZbin suggests to me is a video of you designing an all-in-one ship.

this ship is a flat out fortress , it's solid in prettymuch every angle it's even shaped like a castle . . . the wall of shields . the thruster courtyards . the rail keep . . are you seeing it ??

The missile factories seem to be more efficient when they feed directly to the launchers rather than into storage. 1. The factories store 30 parts (7.5 missiles) and 5 each of iron and sulfer (enough for 25 missiles). You need storage and a factory anyway, just use the factory. 2. One factory can produce missiles quickly enough to keep up with one launcher. 3. There's one fewer logistics step when feeding directly from a factory to the launcher. I placed two HE Launchers on either side of a feeder factory. The third open side of the factory opens into sulfur and iron storage. Testing different configurations showed this design to use the fewest crew to continuously make, load, and launch missiles almost as fast as possible. The first 5 volleys are at the launcher's fire rate of 1 shot every 2 seconds. After that, the fire rate of both launchers is about the same as one launcher. Not tested for nukes, but it's probably a good design for the same reasons.

If you can extend the armor with the framework past the shields, disruptors strikes will hit that 1st: they act as a lightning rod and prevent shield drain.

Select the Gravity gun and press CTRL+5, then target ship one normal, press 5 and target the other ship

One of the most difficult Cosmoteer AI ship is supposed to be "Terror". Don't think your current build survive it.

Hey I managed to understand your goofy gibberish at 25:30 I think the way to do what you want is to not select targets by right clicking theme, as weapons can be selected to do specific strikes on multiple targets (and if not paused will always attack their manualy set targets on their own) right clicking will make you face the enemy at a certain angle and distance (but you wont be able to multi-target) but angling can be done automaticaly by selecting the enemy to face then you only have to control distance manualy or even wasd your ship

you can see in any ship your crew enters some times if you trade with some one between base's ive done that to see what some ship's i was about to start a fight with and base's im about to destroy for a system. im fighting monalith first

There ist nothing wrong with ugly or brick design. Remember the F4 Phantom II, which proofed that even a brick can fly, If the attached engines are powerful enough...

Your engine rooms aren't as optimized as they could be. If you place one thruster directly lined up with the engine room, then one either side pushed back by one tile you can fit a total of 6 huge thrusters per engine room, with a single corridor on each side. I.e 50% more than what you have now

2:34 "Power cannot be delivered while boosting." Dead in the water for about 3 seconds. Most cost effective and efficient propulsion solution is 6 huge thrusters on 1 engine to make 1 cluster, then 1 large reactor between 2 such clusters. I'll leave you to go figure it out. And no, you do not need all factories. You only really need the one for tristeel and diamonds. 2 rows of 3 square wide wasted space. You might really want to re-think that one. If you solve the propulsion issue, why would you worry about making the ship heavier? LOL? Is there any particular reason why you hesitate to stick railgun clusters together? If they are closer, the shielding up front covers more railguns. And using a small reactor to power a large shield is simply asking for trouble. I've mentioned before to put a large reactor (or at least a medium reactor) between 2 railguns at the top. And that door switching mechanism on the 2 crew bunk is just plain retarded. Place the bunk vertically in the 2 square gap between 2 successive accelerators and they will have access to the entire length of the railgun if you place doors. How does producing munition and putting them in a storage block improve optimisation when you don't even have enough crew on the weapon system to reload it? Isn't it faster to just put the factory close to the door of the launcher since you cannot offload faster than the production rate anyway? FYI, 2 operators and 6 loaders/factory supplier is the basic standard crew complement for missile based launchers. An unconventional tactic I would suggest for your kind of ship is front firing mine launchers. Better when placed closer to the centre line. Wrecks smaller ships, blows up in frontal cavities of larger ships and starts fires. Regarding the "Shrike" enemy ship with rail cannons, if you are not using railguns, the solution would be to target a point at the back of the ship and get in close so your HE missiles would miss, circle back and strike it in the back. Question is whether you have sufficient front defenses to take it in the face. If you are rail fanning, I don't see what the problem is... I don't know what difficulty you're playing on, but don't do this on grand admiral. Clearly you do not have enough reverse thrust. Especially not when you have only just realised boosters suck plus haven't even stumbled upon the most efficient engine cluster build having already reached the endgame stage.
