There is a way to ensure the Thermal Power Plants are always running at full capacity: Separate them from the Main Power grid and charge accumulators with the generated energy (add one wind turbine to bootstrap the sorters). Then discharge the accumulators in the main grid. Because Accumulators are always discharged this guarantees the powerplants to work at full capacity. Its feels hacky but worked fine in my builds.

I do this a lot. However sometimes it does just move the management problem up a stage to how hydrogen is moved around. It works really well on an isolated single use planet like this though!
@jgischer2 жыл бұрын
This is a very useful idea. We can set priority on splitters, so objects can be prioritized, like charged accumulators. So you can export power with this AND burn off the rest with nothing backing up, it would seem.

Accumulators really are the best. Ever since i switched to them i use them as the sole power source for all of my various mining worlds, which in tandem with the new advanced miner have made setting up new mining planets so fast. I still use a ton of fusion power on my two large scale factory planets tho. woot, I've followed your design but decided to go for proliferator mk3 for the sails, and i have to say this strikes the perfect balance. All the hydrogen plants work at full speed, all the hydrogen gets consumed, and the self balanced accumulator system takes care of the 200mw missing without requesting more charged accumulators from outside the planet. The system produced 14,3k sails/minute and i even ship away unused ores like silicon, coal and Optical crystals. Probably that more kick in power consumption given by the mk3 goo is what's missing for total H depletion without straining the balanced exchanger system. I'm not building absolutly anything else on this planet, It's locked down. Congratualation for your amazing design.

I'll be honest i don't see the value in the Blue proliferator spray. They are expensive in terms of carbon, and they only add an additional +5% production and more than double the power consumption of green proliferation. Why would anyone take +25% production at +150% power consumption when a green proliferator can give you +20% production at +70% power consumption. This is just in terms of the bonuses the construction cost for Blue spray is more than twice that of green spray. So you can get more that twice as many items proliferated at +20% than you can get at +25% so in actual fact you get less production with blue than you get with green because 200 items proliferated at 20% gives you 240. But only 100 items proliferated at +25% gives you only 125. In every way blue gives you less than green spray, You get less production because you can only spray half as many objects, the power consumption is off the charts in comparison. And while it requires twice as many resources to make green spray over yellow spray you get a significant boost to production, a 60% boost over yellow spray. Yet you only get 25% boost from green to blue and that means you are playing more than 4 times the coal costs to get twice the total production from yellow to blue. Plus you need titanium which could be use else where. At least green only requires coal to build. Maybe I am missing something but I see no value in blue spray.

Do you perhaps know any tricks to improve performance? After 5-6 systems its slowly grinding toward 27-32fps and will go lower :_)
@fare-51742 жыл бұрын
The main performance hit is dyson sphere shells (panes made with sails), so try making designs with more rockets and less sails. The second main offender is belts+sorters, so make your builds more compact (share belts as often as you can, do not split your builds between several chunks/towers like Nilaus does, etc.). Other than that, it's all on CPU, so check if you're able to get more out of it (Turbo mode, overclocking, whatever).
