Nile playing an LP! sounds cool.

I'm happy to see two of my guitar heroes on stage. For those a little unfamiliar with Slash, his mother, Ola was a costume designer for a lot of disco acts. Her most notable client was David Bowie. The Disco Queen Sylvester was also frequent guest at his early home, and actually gave him one of his first pets. I say all this to say, that this isn't a random occurance. This kind of music was deff. played in that house. Funk music is in this mans blood as much, (or a bit more) than rock and roll.

Killed it. Once he puts the guitar on his leg you know shit is about to go down.

I LOVe It when he does that! ❤❤❤

This is one of the main reason's why I love slash. He likes to work with artists from different genres and not in a controlling way. He's so humble.

Slash: Would you like some wah with that? Nile: Did I fucking ask for- Slash: *Pours wah all over the song like ketchup over chips*
@giotheproducer24768 жыл бұрын
yeah , he ruined the song with that fuckin sound
@RTDLIFE10 жыл бұрын
Nile Rogers all about the the right hand and slash is all about the left hand. I liked it.
@johnhunter3777 жыл бұрын
Guess what? Nile Rogers did play in a rock and roll trio. They were called "The Boys" and his other two bandmates were Bernard Edwards (Bass) and Tony Thompson. (Drummer) These three guys ultimately became core of Chic during their heyday. So I think Nile was correct in having Slash come on stage playing a wah washed solo over a funky groove. Well done everyone.

Nile's the funkiest guitarist ever but that Les Paul just aint funky like his old Strat!
@MasterWitchDoctor6 жыл бұрын
a les paul is a lot better than a stratocaster. i have both and there is noticeable differences like night and day. to me a fender strat is a light weight narrow necked beginners guitar whereas the paul is a guitar for the more experienced guitar players. a paul reed smith (mines an EG Custom) is as good as it gets, its a les paul on steroids.

...yes, it's unusual for him but but it sounds fucking great!

Slash is an incredible guitarist ... However Nile Rodgers is a God in the music industry. They both have very different styles and it is impossible to compare them.
@silentbobfr11 жыл бұрын
LOL the "strummer" was the frontman of chic, he worked with diana ross, bowie, madonna, the daft punk... He was imitated and sampled by a LOT of people... FYI, Slash is famous for his solos, Rodgers for his rhythm guitar, so dont try and compare them
@ACfixer12 жыл бұрын
This "other idiot" is Nile Rodgers and he's one of the funkiest songwriters and guitar players on the planet. Open your little box and you'll learn that there is some incredible music out there.

q solo da porraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
@tommurrayGTR11 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean? His image is a result of his guitar playing, people took notice of him because he was great player... on top of that he had a very distinct look... on top of that he's become a characterization of himself with all the alcohol and drugs he stuffed down his neck... but mainly he's rated for his playing. If it was just image he wouldn't be regarded in guitar magazines /circles worldwide or by fans for the past 25+ years.
@noahborowski636411 жыл бұрын
What if i told you mindlessly playing solo's and constant shredding aren't an example of good musicianship, that "idiot strummer" is creating the whole life of the song. imagine this tune without the rhythm and it becomes incredibly boring, being good is not playing as much as you can. its about knowing when not to play and also knowing how what your playing affects the sound of the song even slash knows this, after he takes his solo he plays rhythm. that rhythm guitarist is a legend.
@TotoTom56714 жыл бұрын
Amazing performance. Bit skepticle of the solo though. What he played was great but too much distortion and too loud. Hate to say it but lead guitar is the least common instrument in Funk, its all about the rhythm. In Rock the rhythm guitar isn't important but in Funk its way more important than lead guitar. Any lead/solo probably comes from a keyboard of sorts, or a sax. Lead guitar in Funk has to be clean.

I freely admit I can't lift many weights. I have no idea what I could bench press, but it won't be much. I'm reasonably strong, but I don't need to be stronger. I can however take a much larger man to the floor, lock him up and make him look foolish, as can pretty much everyone I've trained with. Go on, keep on kickboxing son.
@musicmick7111 жыл бұрын
how closed is your mind, this other idiot is not only a great player but a amazing producer, do yourself a big favour, will only take a min, wiki nile rogers, he has had a hand in the biggest albums of the 20/30 years, why do you think slash is there, he was so happy Nile asked him to play, respect between them both, maybe you should show some as well?
@karlmnz11 жыл бұрын
really Nathan????? I would imagine that if you asked Slash about Nile's ability as a player/songwriter/producer using that comment, he would laugh you out of the room. Do some research, find out who Nile Rodgers IS and the contribution he has made to modern music, then see if you feel the same way.....
@jargainjones11 жыл бұрын
you werent born when guns n roses was around. you would have more appreciation for his style. also they got him in there to work his magic, as daft punk got rodgers and pharrell in their latest album, to work theirs. Welcome to evolving 101.
@EnricoSantacatterina15 жыл бұрын
Nile Rodgers sounds great on anything!!! No matter what he play on.
@rayrutherford470110 жыл бұрын
Slash kinda tried to take the tune into another level, but it didnt work imo, you cant just add a wah, theres a lot more to funk playing and slash isnt the most versatile guitarist to start with.

maybe hes mad, some people play better when they're mad or sad because they can just get on stage and vent by playing guitar, which is really fucking fun if i do say so myself.

Hmm, is it me, or ... where did Slash think he was, on a metal festival stage? I really don't think this solo has much to do with the song...
@MrCeej999911 жыл бұрын

Hahaha, Nathan congratulations on winning youtubes award for the least educated comment of the decade!! Nile Rogers is a superb guitarist, both as a funkster, lead player, classical player, jazz player, ...... Also, one of the greatest producers the planet has ever seen. Every artist he has produced has had their best selling album with Nile, including Bowie and Madonna.
@alex-kenivel11 жыл бұрын
i believe guitar players tend to feel changes in mood when there's changes in tone. The fact that he went from single-note soloing to more of a rhythmic feel tells me slash would've wanted a change in tone there. Yet the auto wah and fuzz remained. You can even see it on his face and body language that he wanted a tone change. But there was no change and he was forced to make do
