...and, as revealed in that final clip, a very good friend to Niles. Roz was the younger-sister-from-another-mother for Frasier and Niles. She was cut from the same cloth as Martin, but enjoyed the finer things at the same time. She was often at the same society events as the brothers Crane, but enjoyed beer and poker w/ Marty and his cop buddies. I felt bad that she didn't have the happiest ending. She became station manager, but her quest for "Mr. Right" was never completed. She was strong as steel, and the men she dated were usually weak-willed pretty boys...
@urbannomad6928
@urbannomad6928 Жыл бұрын
@@gdkopinionator4356 your observation of Roz is spot on. And sadly, it’s precisely because she’s all that, that she is single through to the end. I find her infinitely more intelligent, sexy and interesting than Daphne’s flighty, good-hearted eye candy. Which is probably why the insecure but intellectually equal Niles dukes it out with Roz and flips for Daphne, not the other way around.
@gdkopinionator4356
@gdkopinionator4356 Жыл бұрын
@@urbannomad6928 I think Daphne was originally "a way out" for Niles' awful reality. The writers wisely took the two characters down a different direction when they got together. The entire "Daphne Returns" episode was about that. Niles' OCD becomes a bit less intrusive, and the real Daphne starts to emerge. Daphne is made of steel too; British steel, not Wisconsin steel. In the final two seasons, Daphne becomes the hub of the family. She even learns to screw up a dinner party or two... The episode where she holds that disastrous dinner party is truly a moment of Frasier passing the baton to her...

I think Frasier had the best sitcom writing on TV. The ensemble cast chemistry was magic. The show would've been diminished with the absence of any of them. Even the peripheral characters, Gil Chesterton, Bulldog, Bebe all added immensely to the show. I remember an episode when Niles was helping Daphne zip the zipper on the back of her dress. He got his tie hopelessly caught in the zipper and was awkwardly hobbling around in back of her. Frasier walked in and said, "Niles....(and then after a perfectly timed pause), you seem to have something on your tie."

If you're referring to the original Police Squad TV series, sure, it was slapstick, but also clever. It was the reboot movie series that transitioned into blunt-force, crude humor; a crass product of the '90s for sure. As you can tell, I prefer the original series (of which are available on KZbin!)

I always thought that, too (Though Niles and Daphne are great.) @@Lilbit09 Season 9, "The Guilt Trippers." It's even worse because they already had like three episodes where they almost got together and agreed it was a bad idea. I think as much as Frasier was the oldest and most cock, I believe Niles was the smarter of the 2 as a therapist. When they would have episodes about psychological issues, Niles came off more understanding of the science..

This is great haha I love this show For future montages though can you let the punchline linger a littl longer? The cuts are just a bit too fast.

Niles and Roz, what can I say. When they're on point they're point. I'm lucky to be the Daphne of Niles' life. Roz is some kind of different kind of woman, but hey each to their own. This was some good put together snippets. Thank you 😂😂 P.E.A.C.E

That moment when Niles has a break down in the cafe shows how much Roz views Niles as her brother, how no one is allowed to screw with j bit her and heaven help you if you come for him while she’s around

Frasier was by a distance the best sitcom ever made. The writing was excellent, the acting was superb, and you always got the feeling that not only did all the actors really enjoy working with each other, they all enjoyed inhabiting the characters they all portrayed. Seinfeld was very, very good, but Frasier was the best imho.

Peri Gilpin as Roz was the ideal woman. Smoking hot with a razor sharp wit.

The amount of times I've rewatched this show! I just love how she's considered family. Even Martin loves her ❤ its so funny that she's so close with Daphne and Frasier, who are the closest people to Niles, yet has this intense rivalry with him 😂

It's because they're both so witty and snarky that they naturally react to each other that way. Similar to Niles and CC in The Nanny lol. Also of course Marty loved Roz she was the son he never had but always wanted lol.

Niles and Roz are underrated as classic sitcom enemies. They were the 1990s version of Sue Ann Nivens and Murray Slaughter of MTM lol.

Marvellous show. Much loved. I hope in the new series the old cast make, if even, brief appearances, for us to enjoy this back-and-forth, for old times sake. We made some fantastic TV back in the day. In the US and UK. Some very talented actors and writers.

The writing and acting in the new one doesn't hold a candle to this. I think that's why David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves didn't want to do it as well as the loss of John Mahoney of course.
