Great improvement. Didn't know it was that easy and reasonable. Putting on the to-do list when the temps get out of the negative area. Gawd I hate winter!

Should of use a splitter that connects to the 7 pin. No cutting stripping except the backup light. Just take the reverse white wire fron the light bar just hook it to the middle wire of the 7 point plug splitter. It works ! No need to run the wire to your tailight. Just hook it to the splitter harness in the middle.

You spliced in simply so you can have the led bar and tow at the same time, correct? If not you could have just plugged it into the normal tow jack and unplug it when necessary for towing?

Nicely done. Not a big fan of those blue connectors myself
@YuriyMotso3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Will see how it holds up. Didn’t want to cut into my harness or do major removal of the cable protection covering so this is kind of what I’m stuck with. In the event it craps out I can revert back to stock no issues. That’s kind of my thinking behind this.
@ryamaguc122 жыл бұрын
Do you need to unplug the connector when you go through a carwash?
@YuriyMotso2 жыл бұрын
Mine is hardwired but it’s weatherproof. Should hold up to carwash
@ednmh3 жыл бұрын
Did you use the screws they provided? If not, how is it holding up with just the tapes?
@YuriyMotso3 жыл бұрын
No I didn’t. The tape has welded to the vehicle. It’s not going anywhere. I don’t like putting holes into my cars unnecessarily. I can always use a product to remove glue though. Goof off should take off the residue if I ever want to remove it.
@michaelhinchey2 жыл бұрын
Did you happen to put the plastic clips on it? How is the cheaper sticky tape holding up?
@YuriyMotso2 жыл бұрын
No clips. The tape is now probably permanent 🤣

Is the wiring all the same for all trucks
@YuriyMotso2 жыл бұрын
Not sure. One would assume it is as it’s a universally standardized connection. Easiest way would be to check under the cap of the towing harness and it should have the connection diagram.

Very cool! Quick question, does the excess that is being run up to where it’s visible light up as well? Just wondering if it’s shining on the ground out of you found a way to turn it off.
@YuriyMotso3 жыл бұрын
No, just lights up on the strip that spans the gate. The harness has no additional lighting source on it. The ground was wet so there is a reflection off the ground. It will automatically turn off when the car is off and or when the sensor detects that it’s bright enough outside.
@artschmidt50472 жыл бұрын
Yuriy- As usual, I learned a lot from your videos. I'm a new RTL-E owner, and am trying to learn as much as I can. I've already used your oil catch can video to install this product; curious to see if a new truck will have as much oil caught. regarding the light strip, what was your source for the back up light wire, where did you attach that wire? I don't think that was mentioned in the video?
@YuriyMotso2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Art. Now your question I am not sure I understand? The product has a link in the description, and every single step to install the light is mentioned in the video. What do you mean by, "source for the back up light" and what do you mean by, "Where did you attach that wire?". Power source? If that is what you are asking then there is none. The power is gained from the splice. once the signal is flipped or brakes pressed the power is sent to the lights and in turn the strip which powers the strip.

Would never splice into original harness bad idea to much risk for a short in the future or corrosion...
@YuriyMotso3 жыл бұрын
True. That is why I used these crimps. They do the least amount of damage and are very easy to repair to where you do not have to worry. I seen people cut their wires and solder together and that I over kill. But again this is what I did and does not mean others have to do it this way. Now At least people who want to will know how it’s done.
