It is rare that I think a studio version is better than a live version, but this is one of those songs I can tell the place he was at at the time make the album version so much more powerful than him doing it here. Here he is performing it, then he was living it.

This idea to have the cameraman on stage is genius. This is the closest thing I've felt to actually being there. This beats the shit out of a wide-angle shot of the entire stage, zooming in on particular band members. This gives it intensity.

Introdused to NIN by a neibourghood friend when i was 14 with the DS in 1996 and directly linked up. I've seen NIN a number of times live in concert and had the pleasure of meeting Trent in Toronto during one of his stops. I'd have to say that if there was one thing that stands out not just in his music, but also as a person is that he's genuine. His live performances sound like the NIN cds (In a good way; not lip syncing or using computers to change his voice like pop stars) and after talking to him you realize just how down to earth he is. A good man and an amazing musician!

How could I ever think it's funny how? Everything that swore it wouldn't change, is different now Just like you would always say, "We'll make it through" Then my head fell apart and where were you? Definitely NIN's best, critics may not have thought so, but I think most NIN fans can agree--The Fragile was Trent's magnum opus. And this performance, the song is over 10 years old but here it sounds so fresh and new...People may say TDS days were the golden years...but I really think this tour & lights in the sky are NIN at the top of their game, especially this tour, reminds me of the early Pretty Hate Machine days with it's stripped down rawness.

NIN, like fine wine, just gets better over time.... now 55, this song didn't resonate with me in the 2000's, now, it's one of my favorites, and has me thinking how did I not love it from the outset... Amazes me how Trent's music can rotate in your mind like that, a different favorite every six months or so, as you hear things that you didn't necessarily hear before.... best ever in my opinion..........

I was referring to the people who drone on endlessly with "New NIN sucks, Trent make another Downward Spiral/Fragile", saying he's too old now, not the same energy/voice/performance as before. @tabloidal what made such great performances in past tours and albums, punctually I would have to say the synths, the guitar riffs, the voice, everything is mellowed down now, when trent cared less about having a "perfect performance" came out just awesome and powerful, real soulful at a point. and well the destruction "scene" was NIN trademark, we can't deny that! it just gave the sense to the music!! besides the live band was great with closer/lohner even with dillon. hope that makes my point
