Apparently, I was the FIRST person to ever tell Trent he was the greatest singer/songwriter of the 20th Century... I met him backstage in 1994 at one of his secret shows that doubled as the "warm-up" leg to the Self Destruct Tour. He said "Wow, no one's ever said that to me that before. Thank you." He was really cool and down to earth. So I said "Really?? What do they usually say?" He took a deep breath... "Hi, I love your hair. How much money do you have? Can I suck your dick?" True story. I wonder today if he still remembers that cuz he was sober as a nun...

It's part learned craft, part having all the equipment in the world and time, part his god given voice and his internal rhythm, which drives all his songs....part his internal sense of melody....he has a gift for nursery rhymes, then theres his sense of taste tying it all together, he likes unusual and cool trippy sounds and music and likes to space out, he loved pink floyd and depeche mode growing up, and he practises the same art, sacred rock pop music. Basically Trent has a combo of gifts that most musicians only have one each of, and he has total luxury and wealth and time to take is ablity to the their full potential.....almost all musicans never get that opportunity, having no time cause of 40 hours a week at work and couldnt even afford one synth in trents multi million dollar studio arsenal. All that said, for the million of guys with music talent, who never get anywhere...trents the one who did.... ..no doubt he makes things flow.....and it seems like magic by the time he shows it to us.

Trent truly is one of the greatest and purest artist of our time. He makes what he wants with no censors or middlemen to fuck with him. I see him being a major contributor to future sounds and he definitely is an influence to the sounds of today. Praise Trent and his power to makes us all closer to God.

"Contrast" is the word I think you mean, "contradiction" carries a negative connotation. But I totally agree. I'm also a fan of Dave Matthews, been with Trent and Dave from right when they started to hit in the early '90s. ANYWAY, at one point, Dave brought on back up singers for a tour and live album (titled: Listener Supported). At first I was like, WTF? But I set aside bias and let it sink in and wow, just like these lovely ladies, they really add a killer new dimension. Hard to imagine since Trent's music is always layered with so much texture. Cheers!!

I'm 18, born in 2004, and have been graced with my mom's old Walkman and Discman. I've been obsessed with "Closer" and seeing her old NIN album had me hype to hear more of their stuff. Hesitation Marks is not available to me on Spotify, and I am SO grateful I can listen to this album, to "All Time Low" when I'm out through sheer before-spotify will. This song is so incredible, I'm simply in love, and the artistry that is NIN is absolutely worshipped in me.

I remember after the concert people were upset closer was never played, because they failed to hear it referenced in this song...
@terry85mar6 жыл бұрын
NvikIngsN that's fine with me. Closer has been ruined in live performances ever since with teeth era. I hate the way they play it now just playing half tge song then mixing in the only time which replaces the most awesome part of closer, the whole rest of the song after the final chorus with all the synth leads and keys. They completely take that part out. I love closer and the only time but id rather have them play each song separately in their entirety. Mixing them together just takes out the best parts of each song which is a waste of a couple minutes that could have been used for any other one of their songs.
