Thanks for a brilliant tutorial. I'm currently setting NINA in my observatory. It's my first time using the new version of NINA and have been away from astronomy for some time. I've followed your settings step-by-step as it's a good starting point for me to tweak as a want.

I like your imaging screen walk through. It gives me few ideas on how I’d like to use it.

@@EverydayAstro clear skies would be nice, but the pall of forest fires in western North America and northern Canada is obstructing the view of even the moon by about a stop and a bit. IF the sky clears I’ll use it as a training opportunity to get a handle on using NINA. Cheers!

If you use off-axis-guiding, it is strongly recommended to set the "Disable Guiding" option in the "Focus"-section because the guidestar will be dramatically out of focus and guiding is likely to be all over the place.

Your videos are well thought out and logically presented thus far, and thank you for doing them. I do find that there seems to be some background sound (music?) that for me at least I find quite distracting. Thanks for putting these together.
@EverydayAstro3 жыл бұрын
Hi Duncan, thanks for the feedback - really appreciate that. The music is only there so it's not just my voice droning on throughout the video! Try to keep it to a low level, but I am glad you have found the videos useful! Clear skies to you!

Thanks Matt now I understand how to set up a useful interface I was finding it very disjointed before. The reason I didn't use it before Tried it tonight worked great till the clouds rolled in :(

Really like how you've broken it down to bits as opposed to everything all at once,.. so much easier to take as there is just so much to learn. Good deal! Question- I have a manual filter wheel and wonder if NINA allows for that? I hope it allows for labels and focal differences...

Excellent stuff, it really helps me a lot, now, everything is set up, now, how do you disconnect everything?, it may looks naïve, but do you go disconnecting your equipment one by one ?, maybe it is in a later video, hopefully 😊
@EverydayAstro3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claudio, thanks for your comments. Really appreciate your feedback. Personally, I disconnect everything individually. It's like a final check before switching off - is the mount parked? Yes - disconnect. Has the camera warmed up? Yes - disconnect. And so on. Hope that helps... Clear skies to you!

Good stuff Matt, I'm learning NINA as well, and so far love it. One question - is there a way to save the imaging screen layout? because when I re-open NINA they're all back to default. I would have assumed the layout would be auto saved to the current profile.
@EverydayAstro3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, thanks for the comment! It should save automatically - I will have a play tomorrow and see if I can replicate it not saving. If that's not working, try creating a new profile in the options tab just on the off chance it's a weird issues with that profile. I've also found that on the odd occasion it has loaded the wrong profile at start up - so I have been sat there scratching my head about why all my settings have changed, but it simply because it loaded the default profile not my created one! Will come back to you tomorrow after I have had a go at trying to replicate... M

@ 5:34 HFR is Half Flux Radius. Also if you have a Pocket Power Box you can select that for your Weather too as it then takes temps from the sensor which will be more accurate to your location. There's a Plugin for the Nightly version of NINA that measures your filter offsets for you.
@EverydayAstro3 жыл бұрын
😂 - I have no idea where my version of HFR came from - or how I missed that in editing, but yes (and thanks), you are quite right - sometimes I say the funniest things when I only really have one take, I think the panic of getting it right takes over and I stop concentrating on the little things! Thanks for the info on the weather and I'll look into that filter offset plugin! Clear skies to you!

@@EverydayAstro Mate, you're doing well - pumping out some well informed videos. I'm sure you'll master the art of video making - Keep them coming. PS Have a go at NINA 1.11, Nightly's are up to #76 and very stable.

Will defo download 1.11 as soon as I’ve finished the run of these videos. Perhaps do an extra video at the end to show the changes since 1.10...

I've only just discovered NINA, but it sure looks great. I was using a combo of APT, SharpCap, ASCOM etc but this looks like it does all of those things. Can it also do polar alignment (because the SharpCap p.a. is rather nice)? Thanks again for a fab video!
@EverydayAstro3 жыл бұрын
Hey Stuart, yes it does have Polar Align in NINA. I will do a video on that when I finally get A) some free time (a lot of work stuff going on right now!) and B) these blooming clouds bugger off! I generally use Polemaster for my mount (and it's on a pier now, so don't need to do it all that often) but I am told the NINA PA is very effective, so I am looking forward to trying it out, too!

@@EverydayAstro great! Thanks so much. I think the sharp cap one is great, so it will be good to see if this is even better. Thanks again for helping us all out!

I figured it out. You have to arrange your screens under each profile, but you have to close each profile after arranging your screens. So, if you have 4 profiles you will have to close each one individually after arranging the screens to your liking.
@gadgetmanbowen30813 жыл бұрын
I was going through your KZbin videos on NINA and I picked up some good points. However, I was trying to setup different profiles and I ran into a problem. After setting up the different profiles without any equipment connected, I noticed that the screen arrangement I did was not saved. The different profiles are listed but the window arrangements did not stay as I set them. Is there a way to save the different profiles or do I have to connect the equipment in order to save the different profile settings?

Good video, but could you consider removing your inset when showing the UI. It covers parts of the screen you’re explaining. Hearing your voice and watching your mouse is enough.

Clarification on closing profile. You have to close NINA each time after setting up each profile.

Half Frequency Rate? Try Half Flux Radius.

Ha, yeah, that was my error, you're entirely right. Was picked up about 5 months ago by someone else. It's a camera thing - when it's recording, you know exactly what you mean to say, but some random gibberish somehow comes out your mouth - and I missed it in post editing. Sorry about that. Clear skies to you.
