Such a treat hearing my music behind this amazing climb. I just got home from a bouldering trip to Bishop and was standing underneath this climb 24 hours ago thinking "that's f***ing insane!" I know this was 7 years ago, but congrats!

Watching her reel rock episodes of the three sends including ambrosia and then on to “too big to flail” was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen. Alex Honnold was even nervous for her and that says a lot. Great job Nina...

What a great performance. What is missing in many (most?) of these videos is the preparation and rehearsal that do into the ascents. Williams herself is very clear and open about working these highballs on TR before going big, which is a very sensible thing to do. It's like "head pointing" in England but here without any rope at all for the main event. I think it's useful to remember that climbers don't just walk up to these monsters and zoom right up. She's such a strong, precise climber. It's great to watch her send!

How are you even supposed to set up a top rope on this boulder? There are no bolts or spots to place protection. I'm not saying there's no way, but I don't see how it would be possible.
@unique_newyork3 жыл бұрын
@@moonbabies She says at the beginning of the video that the top rope anchors were bolted in the early 90s. You set up the top rope (from a different approach, obviously), and climb.

you can't interact with them as they fall, you would both get hurt in the collision. But you can ensure that when they would bounce/roll after the fall, they remain on the pads instead of going off

Catch her. I'd catch that bitch if she fell out of an airplane. I had my hands in the air just watching this video.

I think you guide them to the pad as best you can and watch their legs explode in front of you. And their spine get crushed. And maybe their eyes pop out.

From that height you can catch or seriously slow down a baby or a small child. But an adult, not so easily unless you are a strongman with some serious reflexes.

She'll die eventually and everyone will say "She died doing what she loved"... I don't give a S how these people choose to climb, it's only when they try and justify it is when I just laugh. Just like all the other idiots who free solo, their justifications for doing so are stupid nonsense that they should just keep to themselves. Their ego just keeps going and they demand more and more risk because the thrill is gone with easier stuff.

It's basically like E6 or 7b in trad/sport grades respectively. I like that we have our own grading based on various heritages and climbing growing globally all at once but it sure makes it even trickier to understand when you then start to mix bouldering grades with sport and trad grades... Mighty confuzzling!
@ZoraZoldier5 жыл бұрын
Like, awesome obviously, but what in the world prevents her from just bolting a toprope to the top of it? Just the fact that it’s technically a ”boulder”, and thus must be done by ”bouldering”? :P Insane stuff...

lets assume her weight is 50 kilos. in the middle of the route she is 20 feet high. falling from there has an impact "force" of 300 kilos. means, falling from the top would be the same as spotting a falling truck.... never the less i got sweaty hands while watching :)
