@catherineborger13602 жыл бұрын
This song was originally written in '64 and she covered it in '65. The characters in the video represent a modern take on Nina and her daughter (for real) at a time right after leaving a long abusive marriage in 1964. She was starting over and was having this new awakening when she did this album ("I Put a Spell on You") so watching the video with that in mind I get a sense of just how much of herself she poured into her music and how real that emotion was. It was always like that for her.

I love the spirituality around honoring sacred femininity that is so rooted in African tradition, and also love that this was positive, romantic vision of a beautiful, loved and loving black woman who grew up in a beautiful home… seems like too many portrayals of African American lives are of struggle and while I get that’s important to portray sometimes we miss the magic and beauty and love and affection and soul in these beautiful families and traditions and I love how this was really all about feeling good and giving out love rather than just a sort of over simplified portrayal of overcoming blatant struggles to get to a place of feeling good

Stop telling people what to do and gatekeeping as we non-spirtual non-religious people have the equal right to speech
@j.ballsdeep4203 жыл бұрын
@@Kriz10010-- Also, science never claims definitive proof: Religion does. Dogmatically, unequivocally, omniscient and without deviation to any of the tribal beliefs. Take your joke of an attempt of being objective saying nothing of an absolutely impossible unknown as your argument and shove it cause lack of truth doesn't create proof the same of lack of proof doesn't disprove. You're using a twisted logic fallacy much more intelligent people deductively tried to use prior and works with many still, but eat it in reverse cause we're entitled to our beliefs the same as you and this person, again, rebutted with equal fervor the convictions, both equally wrong or perhaps equally right. False equivalence. Again, stop telling people what to do and realize religion isn't, "a part of life," for _hundreds_ of millions of people. Spirituality or religion never enters my life unless someone who felt it necessary interjected it in my day, sigh, so how bout y'all start respecting others the same as you expect us to respect YOUR beliefs?

Acredite minha amiga, sei bem o que vc quer dizer. E digo mais: não importa qual das três interpretações vc mais goste dessa música (Original na Nina Simone, Versão do Michael Bublé ou da Laurin Hill) a música fica excepcional em todas elas.
