This was my first entry to the Armored Core series. Needless to say, it was a wild entry. Still remember crafting what looks better than outright stats as a kid. Subterfuge was my idol as a new player then. Ah memories.

I literally made my best AC in NB based on Stark's AC setup: Pixie 3 with a bazooka. It beat all the ranked, unranked ACs as well as multiple training missions in a row.

I didn't think Nine Breaker was all that bad, it taught me how to actually control my AC instead of just going through the motions. I doubt I could have completed Last Raven without playing ACNB first. I I think it was the most balanced in terms of mechanics of the last three PS2 titles (plus it didn't have the booster acceleration and part breaking meta-game BS.)

After getting Gold on all the Nine Breaker missions, I think I was ready for just about anything. As a training program for Ravens, I think it did its job.

It was bad as fuck. You were in load screens & menus longer than actually playing. Longest duel I had in it was 40 seconds. Game was a joke.

ACNB has the best balance as a pvp game but the single player training has too many frustration factors. Had it been given a good SP story mode it would be in god tier.

I just got this game a few days ago from a used game store, and it's alright. It definitely feels like more of an addon than an actual game. Although one could argue that the multiple different AC tests are actually good warm ups for those who are new to the game series. It's not as bad as Armored Core 2, which I sold back because of the clunky directional pad use. I do give AgeTec props for a catchy menu theme. :)

This was probably the worst arnored core game ever, but one of the most addicting. I wasted so many hours of my life on a game that I didn't even like that much.
