Why is the NIN fanbase so wholesome? None of this "DESTROYING MY GENERATION" crap - when a song is sampled or appears in another piece of media, the fanbase just says "I know right? Here's some more great stuff. Enjoy!" WHY CAN'T WE HAVE MORE FAN GROUPS LIKE THIS?
@jhonnycagexrage7458

Because Nine Inch Nails is music for cool people, elitists and conservatives normally wouldn't like something so experimental and conceptual as NIN's whole discography, so the fanbase is not toxic

Dude. Exactly. Everyone I've seen in the NiN fanbase has been either "Trent has a #1 single now and that's rad" or "someone in 2019 decided to experiment with a Ghosts track and made a pop hit out of it and that's rad". You wouldn't expect positive energy out of NiN but that's what we got.

Trent Reznor himself is cool with it, why would us NIN fans bother about it then? And I grew up with NIN, and I can tell you Trent´s philosophy is to always reinvent himself/his music, so he must have had such a good time listening to Old Town Road. He has even stated, don´t remember where, that when he composes a song, he then thinks about what other musical choices and paths that song could have took, that´s why NIN´s got a lot of remix albums. To Trent sampling one of his songs is like taking it from another perspective, and he loves that more than anybody else.

it has a suprisingly comfortable vibe to it, which really differentiates it from other NIN songs. Reznor's style has always been about causing discomfort and uncertainty with his music, but Ghosts IV - 34 has a way of embracing it's darkness in a calm way. Kind of reminds me of a state of anxiety when you accept the stress and go on with your usual activities.

Did anyone else hear this in the second episode of the Netflix documentary, "Vietnam war" at 59:33? I'm pretty sure 99% of the people on here didn't but maybe there are a few lol

I fucking knew that old town road has used a sample. I finally found the source of the sample. Pretty cool. I was like there is no way old town road was made up in 2019

Well, it was kinda obvious that he used something from back in the day and added the 808 trap beat that was popular in the 90s along with it. Had to have done it for me to love the song. Anything from that era, I loved, for the most part.

This comes from a huge album and there are all kinds of feels across the 2+ hours. It didn't get the glowing reviews I think it deserved because it's all experimental instrumentals but there are real gems to be found. And if you like it, I HIGHLY recommend Trent and Atticus's film score work. Happy listening!

This instrumental just has that vibe that reminds you of the past. You know, shit that almost killed you but made you stronger...but somewhat jaded too as a person.

We had old town road for 11 years, but it took one person to discover this song, and turn it into the song we all know today. Trent Reznor is a genius, but Lil Nas X also is a genius himself.

Ya know...Nine Inch Nails has a really interesting relationship with country music. First Johnny Cash covers "Hurt" and it becomes more popular than the original. Now this....can't imagine what is next :)

For anyone that would like to check more into Nine Inch Nails after hearing this from Old Town Road, I highly suggest The Fragile (album), Still (compilation/short "acoustic" album), With Teeth (album), and Hesitation Marks (album). You really cant go wrong with Nine Inch Nails. All of their albums are solid and unique in their own special way. They're truly one of a kind
