Incredibly soulful. What an amazing man and musician. So much respect.

I first heard him playing in a small hall in a town called Bellingen , NSW , Australia way back maybe 15 years ago. I was instantly intrigued by his style of folk blues and classic rock done on alternative instruments. He is one of very few live musicians that are worth seeing nowadays. Unless you are into people rhyming over drum beats produced on a drum machine.

I reached out to Harry last night and the tuning is from low to high DAAEAC. He said his 3 year old son was just turning the tuning keys and voila! The root note is the fifth string A so it is an A tuning. He uses heavy strings on the resonator. More string more sound. They range from 16-56. It would blow up a standard tuned guitar. I’ve been playing with it this morning and it works perfectly. Absolutely love this man’s music and a man of gentle soul and immense talent. Thanks Harry Manx for the info! You are remarkable.

Hey Man, last night Harry gave me this tunning to, so for beginning, with my steel bar I'm only playing on 3th and 5th fret the 3-4 first bottoms string leaving lower ring in EAC

I was a Kelly Joe Phelps fanatical follower in the early 1990's-on, then I discovered Harry Manx, another lap slide genius, although both are musical geniuses who play many different styles and instruments. The story about how he went to India, and his commitment and training are an impressive and inspirational story, but ultimately it comes out of his soul - Harry Manx like Kelly Joe Phelps is a natural born musical genius - a force of nature!

very unique style, a mix of American blues, Saharan blues and Indian music. Guitar style reminds me of Tinariwan from Mali. Watch Tinariwan on KZbin you will like it. Thanks to Henry Manx for beautiful soothing music.

As to the person who was reminded of Bad Company - hey - it's all blues - and Harry Manx ranks - in my humble - along with Paul Rogers. THey both have soul/ they sing from the heart - that's all that truly matters.

There's just so much soul here! If you haven't heard Harry play with Steve Marriner on the harp yet, you have got to check them out! They'll make your soul scream!

Cindy is a personal friend of mine, her son was shot down in the summer of his young life, in a war that has yet to be answered for. Her son was one of the "Nine summers lost". Starting cold, it could be easy for folks to miss what this song is about, if you thought it was boring. But for my money, I'd love to hear someone like "Tool" do an angry cover of this song.
@chrishodgson18154 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine in Canada posted a video of this amazing musician to me a short while ago. I have never heard of him but he is magnificent. Please accept my apologies Michael Dean but I am not certain to which war you refer to and Harry Manx is singing about, is it Vietnam or one of the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East ? To use your phrase, I am starting cold but I really get what this song is about.

@@chrishodgson1815 Thanks. Cindy's son lost his life in Iraq and I am not sure which war Harry is singing about. Wow! 2020, proof that the words, "May you live in interesting times," is a curse.

Iris Trip : Iris I am happy to say that I also am knocked out by this song and wanted tuning..just tried DADF# AD on old guitar and YES it is right ! Now I need to learn how to play ! How are you managing (if you don’t mind me asking!)
@Atticusthird5 жыл бұрын
I think this is either DADDAD or DADFAD. We’d hear dissonance from the F# resonating against the minor key if it were D major tuned.
