New Info: This band was formed in 1987. The lead singer is dressed as a literary master from Meiji era. The bass is dressed as a Buddhist monk with white face (white color in Asia is correlated to death or after life) and drummer is dressed as a Yakuza gangster.

Awesome. Thank you for the short backstory behind their look. I love their dynamic in the videos. All my metal friends have never heard of them either but absolutely fall in love with their sound. Due to their age, I hope their fame skyrockets in the next year or two. They deserve more fame and fortune.
@kenshinflyer4 жыл бұрын
The lead singer did study Buddhism at Komazawa University, while the bassist studied Russian literature at Sophia University. They're well-versed in literature--they write songs inspired by Japanese classical literature and the works of Poe, Lovecraft, and Nietzsche, hence their songs, with topics such as hell, Buddhism, samurai, the universe, even gambling. I think that's what makes them special.

it's been said that once one reaches a particular level of mastery with one's hands, musical instruments are played mostly by facial expression. bass face. i saw this lyrically as a story played in three acts; the protagonist asks for the things most commonly hoped for- life, love, and success, and then unexpectedly achieves enlightenment when at the end, they wish those same things for everyone. i'm happy you enjoyed this as much as i did! cheers, mate =)

Japan has a fantastic metal scene, these guys toured with Kinniku Shojo Tai a few years ago, another band out of Japan that is hardly known outside of the country. Cool song.
@lurkmerchant3 жыл бұрын
Kin niku shojo tai? How nostalgic! Even though I've never listened to their music, they had hard-core fans. Metal was a niche market in Japan and still is. All the popular bands sing predominantly love songs. Pop-rock, pop-punk and rock ballads are more mainstream.
@edmoses26573 жыл бұрын
@@lurkmerchant I love Kin niku shojo tai, I have all of their music as well as the solo releases from Kenji and Fumihiko. I follow bands like Anthem, Gentaro Satomura, Dirty Trashroad, Wolf, Concerto Moon, Atsushi Yokozeki, Kenji Kitajima and so many more I can't list them all. I love technical guitar like Ohta Katsu, Norifuma Shima and Tetsuya Mitani. It's so great to see Japan keeping rock alive!

They are as old as the guys in Metallica, a few years younger in fact, and have been playing for nearly as long. All the greats of the 70's 80's and even 90's are grandpa metal by now, yet many seem to get hung up on the age of these guys in particular for some reason.

NINGEN ISU! They're the trailblazers of Japanese Metal, their Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin. They were knew by few outside and even inside Japan but are on the road for 30 years, many albums. Baterist is sick, Vocalist/guitarist shereds the heck out of the guitar. They're legendary! PS: Ken-ichi Suzuki is the best bass player I ever heard. He uses distortions, runs and slides no one does or expects. REACT TO NINGEN ISU "The Colour Out Of Space".
