『The Caterpillar』 I just hide myself all day long Just eat all day long Having no idea Nothing to leave behind Nothing...nothing... I am a caterpillar, I just devour I am a caterpillar, I just get fat I just squirm in the dark Just writhe in the dark Nothing to get Nothing comes true Nothing...nothing... I am a caterpillar, just an ugly thing I am a caterpillar, just a hungry creature I am a caterpillar, just an unpleasant existence Ah, meat bolus sticky bloody pus Ah, meat bolus slimy decayed guts Ah, I'm just going rotten, rotten, rotten Ah, dirty lust seething underneath Ah, dirty lust stagnating in vain Ah, I'm just withering, withering, withering

For those getting into Ningen Isu, it would be interesting to note that the band is greatly influenced by literature, mainly by author Edogawa Ranpo whose stories produced the band name ("The Human Chair") and inspired several of their songs. There are also references to writers such as Osamu Dazai, Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, Poe, Lovecraft & others. This song seems to be based on Ranpo's "Imomushi" ("The caterpillar"), a short tale belonging to the erotic/grotesque trend in 20th century Japanese literature. Check it out if you're interested in the aesthetic influences for the band!

I discovered Ningen Isu through random youtube recommendations with their new video for "Heartless Scat" and have been going through anything I could find on here ever since. This is what's resonating the most with me. So glad to be able to see them in February on their world tour in Europe!

I bumped into them by searching for other Japanese Topics, some time ago on a Smart TV, them and 88Kasyo Junrei maybe 5 or 6 years now. Disconected from TV, went PC, and portable, started my usual searching and I had to find them by effort, the algorithm changed some time ago after the big G was being scrutinized the past few months, started to direct more Nihon topics. I've been studying the language for personal reasons and what better way than through the music styles you love?

Never too late to discover hidden gems like Japan's national treasure Ningen Isu. Makes life worth living. Thank you Yakuza Elvis, Suzuki's Son and Sexy Librarian.
This is one of the best songs. Sure, the heavier ones do have their merits, but this song just fits right into the playlist and builds an absolutely glorious contrast to the before and after. Top notch. This ugly self-loathing caterpillar is my hero in the playlist.
