@@SaltyTales When you started the pressure cook time at 30 minutes, what was the actual time it took to get to the temperature countdown?
@rickbooher82245 жыл бұрын
Pot roast my favorite meal in a pressure cooker I add potatoes to my pot roast other wise very much the same and the sear on the roast is so important I cut my potatoes in quarters to keep them from becoming mashed. For the gravy I use a brown gravy mix sometimes I add mushrooms to the gravy. This is a stick to the rib comfort food. Great video. I also cut up the chuck roast into mouth size pieces chunk potatoes carrots celery and onions tto bit size pieces to make a stew. Added tomatoes at the end and cooked a few minutes longer to cook the tomatoes. Did that early part of the week it was awesome. A pot roast use to take me 4 -6 hours now with a pressure cooker less than thirty minutes and you go a meal better than four to six hour version, as the pressure cooker drive the flavors into the food. My favored meat if you can find it is the round bone shoulder roast you usely can only find them at a true meat market some times you have to order it in advance as most supermarkets dont sell them any more. My dog loves the round bone.

You said potatoes cook away to mush or disintegrate when pressure cooking potatoes with roast. The secret to adding potatoes to roast coked in the Ninja Foodi or an Instatpot is use un cut and unpealed baby red and/or baby Yukon golds. The peel holds then together while the roast cooks. I generally cook a 3Lb Chuck eye or Bottom Round roasts with 1 & 1/2 lbs total of Baby Yukon Gold and Baby Red Potatoes (50/50 mix) and 1 lb of Carrots and the potatoes are fork tender but do stay together. Cooking time is usually 70 minutes for a 3 lb roast. I use an Instantpot recipe I found on the web and it comes out perfect every time.

Yes im back, back, back again binge watching these videos sime more. How does the roast do on the grill first btw. Like maybe sear it on the grill first for the flavor then add it to the foodi or get a bark on it in the smoker then finish i know it would take a long time. But might be worth it. I hate carrots so i sub for broccoli and use brown gravy mix with worchestershire sauce. But i still want to try this hahaha. Ooooooo what would it do if you got a bark with ninja rub and smoked then into the foodie with some peppers and broccoli. Dice the celery really small as kids seem to hate them hahaha so i hide em.
@SaltyTales5 жыл бұрын
The pressure cooking part is essential to tender the meat inside.. You can do the same using any other method but it'll take longer. Making this same in the oven will take you about 2 hours.... But still! You can use anything at hand!

You don’t remove the brown stuff off the bottom with water from the onions. You’ll ruin a pan scratching it that way. Use red wine. It deglazes the pan easily and adds flavor to your stew. I made it like you guys for years and didn’t know till I watched someone’s video and tried their way. Just thought I’d pass on the knowledge.
@darleneoconnell31603 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. The red wine makes the beef stew pop and is a perfect deglazed. Excellent recipe from our friends though. We learn together. :)

But I guess everyone has their opinion on what tender is? Myself I like fall apart Chuck Roast but, hey if it is what you want then carry on!
