@@catalinapine8467 lol yeah there is. currently it is Japan-exclusive. it is published, or perhaps the correct word is "distributed" (not really sure), through CoroCoro Magazine. the story follows Kappei as the main character, his childhood friend Tomoya, and Gumchi as they make their way from Iga to Komerica, in order for Kappei to rendezvous and study under his great-uncle, Genryusai (who is also Van's sensei, if you recall the first anime episode and the first in-game Story Mode Chapter). there are quite a few differences in the manga from the anime and game's story. exclusive characters (aforementioned Tomoya, the enemy ninja Fuma), a different kind of tone (a lot more silly and slightly perverse), and different depictions for the cast (Genensai isn't really that nice, Gumchi can actually talk, etcetera). unfortunately, it hasn't been translated into other languages by anyone, and there are currently no plans on an official worldwide release. 💔

The best part about Kappei is that he already had a head start with his ninja training because he's been training in swordplay with his grandfather before he learned of his ninja ancestry. Though it's only Van and Kappei, some of the characters had shady ninja after their siblings. First, they caused the death of Van's father, then, they attempted to rob Kappei's grandfather of his ancestor's secrets, including Gumchi. Though to be honest, I do hope in the future, Kappei would be able to summon his own ninja powers without Gumchi by his side.

I noticed that too. They're all giving me vibes of the orange butterfly from the more recent Kirby games. It kept making random appearances for whatever reason but later played an interesting role later on in its most recent appearance, where it killed a reoccurring extra boss from throughout the series and revived and fused with him to become something worse. Now I just wonder what these animals can do.
