Hi! Thanks for the video. I have read the Omperazole causes weight gain. I gained 15 lbs immediately when on it. I am trying to lose weight after being on omperazole. I did not have acid reflux. It was snuck into a “natural” Mexican supplement called Umary. It has been 5 months since I stopped. I just read this “Omeprazole reduces the production of stomach acid and works by ‘irreversibly’ blocking the actions of an enzyme responsible for acid production, called H+/K+ ATPase (also known as the gastric proton pump). “ Does that mean that my proton pump and enzyme responsible for acid production will never go back to working normally? It says it’s irreversible! 😳

No, it will return back to normal. When it says "irreversible," it means that the drug molecule irreversibly binds to the enzyme. Your body will make more enzymes and if you stop taking the drug, the enzymes will free up and produce the gastric acid as normal. Also, it doesn't inhibit all gastric acid production

Why avoid NSAIDs? Patients on Cardioaspirin take PPI all the time on purpose

Bcz NSAID inhibitors of cox they inhibit the production of prostaglandin which are responsible for mucosal secretion and to reduce the hcl production that is they have protective action but aspirin inhibit that
