please keep in mind that slow oxidative muscle fibers are recruited first due to their size and large electrical resistance (V=IR) which cause threshold potential to occur prior to other muscle types that have lower resistances - ref size principle of muscle contraction

Question.. I've always done strength training and no aerobic training. I've recently started running. Low HR MAF training. Have done 30+ runs in about 35 days. I know we can change the amount of Type 1 and Type 2 muscle fibres by doing certain types of exercises. This week after doing my regular strength training I was so sore! Immediately! Could this be because I have slightly reduced the number of Type 2 fibres in my muscles and the reduced number are having to work harder to lift what I lifted before??? I.e. If I increase Type 1 by 10% and reduce Type 2 by 10% and lift the same amount of heavy weight the Type 2 will have to work harder? This is what it felt like!
