Professor Nerd, you’re changing medicine, making studies and understanding of medical conditions more understandable to students and providers than it has ever been. Thank you so much for the great works. You’re an amazing blessing to generations ❤

Love that you're making more liver videos! After the brain, I feel it is the most amazing organ. Sadly, all of its functions aren't talked about nearly enough.

Acute on Chronic Cirrhosis of the Liver. NOT fun at all. I am in pain almost every day. Sometimes it hurts a lot and sometimes not so much. I am waiting for a referral to a pain management doctor. I can hardly wait. I really need it.

I thought getting LD was somehow my fault, I just racked my brain trying to figure out what exactly did I do. A few months ago I was told that I have this by Autoimmune Hepatitis. I thought it was the psych meds I took. Back in 2012, I recently relooked at the bloodwork and I had elevated liver enzymes. Yet, I have never been clean or sober. I have 29 years and 2 days clean from meth. I'm glad I quite that long ago and never had to go back to it. The alcohol is a different story. In December 2019 I was diagnosed with NAFLD, and figured no big deal, It regenerates itself. So, I wrongly thought. So much for that. By November of 2020 it advanced to NASH, stage 1. By that time, I decided I ought to change my PCP to a hepatologist which turned out to be a good idea. In September of 2020, I no longer could feel anything. So, dumb me in all my 'wisdom' thought I ought to add alcohol to the mix. This continued until January of 2023. Not too smart on my part. Almost every day I drank. This went on for 2 years and 4 months. So, in fact I did in fact cause the cirrhotic liver. The Autoimmune Hepatitis is very rare and it is even more rare for men. As women make up 90%of the patients. Cirrhosis was not even on my radar. I just assumed I would die of congestive heart failure or some cancer. Cirrhosis was just something skid row drunkards get. What a shock I was in for. My MELD score was 16 then dropped to 14 then down to 8 and now back up to 10. I am afraid to drink or take drugs. I know all too well that would end my life a whole lot sooner. We all know why are going to die someday, sooner or later. In addition, I am closely monitored as I have bloodwork done every other Friday. If I do I know all too well that I would sincerely disappoint my medical team.
